Kevin Owens to Defend Winged Eagle WWE Championship at Upcoming Events – As WWE gears up for its post-Christmas house show tour, which includes marquee stops in major cities like New York City and Chicago, Kevin Owens continues to escalate tensions following his actions at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
In the main event of SNME, Cody Rhodes successfully defended the WWE Championship against Owens. However, after the match, Owens attacked Rhodes in a fit of frustration, delivering two devastating piledrivers that left Rhodes needing to be stretchered out of the arena.
Today, Owens doubled down on his actions by taking to Twitter, declaring himself the true WWE Champion and announcing that he will wrestle during the upcoming holiday live events while carrying the iconic Winged Eagle Title.
Owens wrote:
“BALLZ!!! Now that I have your attention, I have great news for you all! I am proud to officially announce that I will be competing in my first matches as your new, true WWE Champion on this year’s Holiday loop (that’s a term people in ‘the business’ use that refers to a string of consecutive shows in different cities over a short period of time) starting in Jacksonville on the 26th, followed by 3 more shows in Florida and then one in Detroit for some reason. Be there to witness history! Oh, the Raw crew has shows too. Whatever.”
Interestingly, the dates Owens listed match the schedule Cody Rhodes originally posted before his storyline injuries were announced, raising questions about whether Rhodes will be cleared to return in time for these events. With Owens now carrying the Winged Eagle Title and proclaiming himself as WWE’s true champion, tensions are at an all-time high as WWE heads into its holiday tour.
This storyline continues to blur the lines between Owens’ frustration and his obsession with the championship, keeping fans eager to see how Cody Rhodes will respond once he recovers from Owens’ brutal attack.
