Gangrel Opens Up About Recent Surgeries – Former WWE star Gangrel, whose real name is Dave Heath, recently revealed that he has undergone significant medical procedures in recent months, including a hip replacement and a knee replacement.
Gangrel, best known for his time in WWE from 1998 to 2001 and a brief WCW stint before that, gained fame as part of the iconic faction The Brood, alongside Edge (Adam Copeland) and Christian. Known for their gothic aesthetic and memorable entrance, The Brood remains a fan favorite from WWE’s Attitude Era.
This past May, Gangrel made a surprise appearance at AEW’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view during a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match between Adam Copeland and Malakai Black for the TNT Championship. In a dramatic moment, Gangrel emerged from beneath the ring to attack both competitors, only to be taken down by Black. The match saw Copeland deliver a brutal barbed-wire-assisted spear to Black before securing the victory via a crossface, also wrapped in barbed wire. However, the intense encounter left Copeland injured, leading to surgery and his subsequent forfeiture of the TNT Title.
Gangrel shared an update on his health via Twitter, explaining his recent absence from the spotlight. He wrote, “I’ve been hanging low last 4 months, reason is I had a total hip replacement 3 months ago and 3 weeks ago a total knee replacement. I’m on my way back up and feeling good! #wantsome #getsome #badenough #takesome #cantstop #wontstop #fanginNbangin.”
Fans have expressed support and admiration for Gangrel’s resilience as he works toward recovery.
