Danhausen’s AEW Status Remains Uncertain – Danhausen’s absence from AEW television, now approaching a year, has raised questions about his future with the company. Reports suggest that communication between AEW and the comedic fan-favorite has been minimal over the past six months, apart from necessary interactions for the approval of his independent wrestling appearances.
Initially expected to return from injury around a year ago, Danhausen reportedly expressed frustrations with the delays in his comeback plans during conversations with AEW President Tony Khan. Despite his eagerness to return, creative proposals to reintroduce him—including pitches supported by Bryan Danielson—never came to fruition.
A disconnect appears to have emerged between the two sides regarding his availability and priorities. AEW sources have claimed that they believed Danhausen was focusing on independent bookings instead of committing to AEW’s Collision. However, Danhausen reportedly communicated family-related obligations that initially affected his availability, though these circumstances evolved throughout the year. AEW has pointed out that his participation in independent events during this period reinforced their perception that he wasn’t interested in appearing on Collision.
Despite these complications, Danhausen remains under contract with AEW through the summer of 2025. However, as of now, no creative plans for his return have been set.
Danhausen’s unique character and cult following make his absence noticeable, but it remains unclear if or when AEW will reintegrate him into its programming. Fans will have to wait and see whether this situation changes in the months ahead.
