Backstage Update on WWE RAW’s Move to Netflix and Netflix’s Requests – WWE’s highly anticipated move to Netflix in January 2025 is generating considerable buzz, with Fightful Select reporting that Netflix has expressed specific interest in featuring prominent WWE stars such as CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes in their programming. While final rosters are yet to be determined, the network’s involvement has created some excitement—and humor—within WWE. According to one executive, “Saudi wanted Yokozuna, we want Yokozuna back too, and I’m sure Netflix does, too,” playfully referencing the high demand for classic WWE stars.
As for WWE’s talent, there’s still uncertainty about which wrestlers will be assigned to RAW and SmackDown once the transition to Netflix is complete. However, WWE has already begun promotions, with stars from both brands participating in a Netflix shoot on October 27 to build hype for the streaming debut. This shoot included notable names like IYO SKY, Kairi Sane, The Motor City Machine Guns, Elektra Lopez, and even former WWE talent Baron Corbin, reflecting the diverse lineup WWE may bring to Netflix.
The report also notes that Cody Rhodes recently discussed a potential movie project with Netflix, though those conversations didn’t result in an official role. However, it signals Netflix’s interest in broadening its partnership with WWE talent beyond the ring.
The first Netflix episode of WWE RAW is expected to take place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. This new chapter in WWE’s history promises fresh exposure and could introduce an expanded fanbase to the excitement of WWE, merging sports entertainment with streaming’s global reach.
