AEW Continental Classic Participants to Be Revealed on ‘Selection Sunday’ – The second AEW Continental Classic is officially underway, with its participants set to be revealed on “Selection Sunday.” Tony Schiavone shared the news during AEW Full Gear, though he left details about the announcement process under wraps.
Last year’s inaugural tournament saw participants unveiled in a YouTube special featuring Eddie Kingston, Tony Schiavone, and Tony Khan, so a similar format might be on the horizon. The tournament kicks off this Wednesday on Dynamite from Chicago, with matches likely continuing on Collision, which will also be taped that evening.
So far, the only confirmed competitor is reigning Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada, who will defend his title throughout the tournament.
If the format mirrors last year, fans can expect a 12-wrestler round-robin competition divided into two leagues. Each wrestler will compete in five matches within their league, earning three points for a win and one for a draw. The winners of each league will clash in the finals, with the tournament champion set to be crowned at Worlds End in December.
