AEW Collision to Transition to Smaller Venues in 2025 – AEW is reportedly making changes to its event logistics, with plans to move Collision tapings to smaller venues in the coming year. This decision follows continued declines in attendance, exemplified by the November 18 Collision originally scheduled for the 20,000-seat Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. With just over 1,000 tickets sold, the event was relocated to GalaxyCon at a smaller venue in the city.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live shared insights into AEW’s plans, noting that the move to smaller venues has been a topic of internal discussion for some time. “I have been told that there is headway being made in running smaller buildings,” Alvarez stated, though he acknowledged that logistical hurdles delayed the transition.
One major challenge has been AEW’s production setup, particularly the lighting rig and set design, which were reportedly too large and heavy for many smaller venues. Alvarez explained, “There was something in their set that was basically too large and heavy to get into smaller buildings, so they’ve been working on retooling it.”
AEW is expected to roll out these changes as 2025 begins, with adjustments to production and venue selection designed to improve the show’s atmosphere and television presentation. Running smaller venues is also anticipated to reduce operational costs and better align with the current demand for Collision events.
This strategic shift could reinvigorate the product, capturing a more energetic crowd environment while maintaining a polished broadcast.
