11/6 NXT Tops AEW Dynamite in Head-to-Head Ratings War – This past Wednesday saw WWE NXT outperform AEW Dynamite in both total viewers and the key 18-49 demographic rating during their head-to-head clash, marking another notable milestone in the ongoing viewership competition between the two promotions.
Due to a one-time schedule shift to Wednesday night, WWE NXT aired on The CW instead of its usual Tuesday slot, with a special broadcast from Philadelphia’s historic ECW Arena. NXT’s viewership rose by 5.3 percent, attracting an average of 619,000 viewers despite this being the second-lowest viewership it has recorded since moving to The CW. In the key 18-49 demographic, NXT pulled a 0.17 rating—a 21.4 percent increase from the previous week and the show’s highest in this category since October 15.
AEW Dynamite, meanwhile, aired in its regular time slot on TBS but experienced a drop in viewership, averaging 523,000 viewers—a decline of 16.7 percent from the prior week. This marked the fourth-lowest total audience in the show’s history. Dynamite achieved a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 15.8 percent from the previous episode, tying both its second-lowest rating ever and its lowest rating in its regular slot.
The stiff competition from the NBA game on ESPN, which featured a matchup between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, drew a substantial audience of 2.14 million viewers and topped the cable charts with a 0.64 demo rating. Additionally, viewership on news channels was up due to post-election coverage, further impacting wrestling audiences that evening.
The head-to-head performance highlights the impact of cross-sport competition and strategic scheduling shifts, both of which can significantly influence wrestling viewership on competitive nights.
