Swerve Strickland Set to Return at AEW WrestleDream

Swerve Strickland Set to Return at AEW WrestleDream – Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland is set to make his first appearance since his intense loss to Hangman Page at September’s All Out.

Strickland’s return was officially announced during a vignette that aired on the October 8 edition of AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday. His comeback is scheduled for this Saturday’s pay-per-view, marking a significant moment for fans who have been awaiting his return to action.

Strickland’s return comes amidst growing tension between his manager, Prince Nana, and AEW’s newest signee, MVP. In recent weeks, MVP has been seeking out Prince Nana, wanting to discuss “business” with Strickland. MVP seems to hold Nana responsible for Strickland’s recent struggles, and MVP, along with another new AEW recruit, Shelton Benjamin, was seen backstage watching Strickland’s vignette, adding intrigue to how this dynamic might unfold.

Also announced for the upcoming event, Willow Nightingale secured her spot in the AEW Women’s World Championship picture after winning a chaotic four-way match. Nightingale originally was scheduled to face Britt Baker in a one-on-one contest, but Baker was pulled from the match due to illness. Tony Khan made the last-minute change, and Nightingale’s win came after she delivered a Samoan drop to Saraya through a table, pinning both Saraya and Harley Cameron, who had been interfering throughout the match.

Meanwhile, Jay White has called out Hangman Page for a match, though it has not yet been officially confirmed. Fans are eager to see how these storylines evolve at Saturday’s event, which promises to be packed with excitement.

Here’s the current card for the pay-per-view from Tacoma, Washington:

  • AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson defends against Jon Moxley
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defends against Willow Nightingale
