Bryan Danielson Reveals Serious Injury Issues Before AEW WrestleDream Match – Bryan Danielson is set to make his next title defense against Jon Moxley in the main event of this Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view, with the stakes being exceptionally high. If Danielson loses, it will mark the end of his full-time in-ring career. The match is surrounded by a sense of finality as Danielson himself has acknowledged that his wrestling career is nearing its conclusion, in large part due to ongoing neck issues that are severely impacting his performance.
In a recent interview with The Uncrowned, Danielson reflected on a recent match that didn’t go as planned, shedding light on the physical challenges he’s been dealing with. He admitted that during his title vs. title match with Kazuchika Okada on Dynamite, he started losing strength in his legs halfway through the bout. As the match progressed, his ability to kick properly deteriorated, something he attributed to his neck issues. He further elaborated that when he returned backstage, the trainers worked on him for about 30 minutes, linking the problem to his neck.
Danielson candidly discussed how his neck problems are not only affecting his performances but also his overall well-being, with shooting pain down his arm impacting his ability to sleep.
“Midway through the match, I started losing strength in my legs,” Danielson admitted. “There’s a point later in the match where I’m trying to kick him and I can’t turn over my kicks. That’s something that I have the body mechanics to do because I have been doing it for so long, but here I am and I can’t turn my hip over for this kick. When I got to the back, I went to the trainer right away and they worked on me for like 30 minutes. They said it was stemming from the neck stuff. It’s getting to a point where, physically, we’re seeing the signs. I haven’t been sleeping well because I have been having this shooting pain down my arm.”
Danielson has plans to undergo neck surgery by the end of the year, which could mark a major turning point in his storied career. Whether his match with Moxley will serve as his farewell or a continuation of his journey in a more limited capacity, the outcome of WrestleDream will be significant for both Danielson and his fans. The “retirement” angle could be a way to create suspense around his match with Moxley, leaving fans questioning if this is truly the end for Danielson or if it will lead to a dramatic twist in the future.
While there’s always a chance that these remarks could be part of an ongoing storyline, credible sources have indicated that his retirement from full-time competition could be imminent, with his neck injury playing a significant role in this decision.
