SmackDown Season Premiere on USA Network Sees Disappointing Viewership Numbers – The September 13, 2024, episode of WWE SmackDown drew 1.723 million viewers on its premiere episode on USA Network. This marks a slight decline from the 1.770 million viewers the show garnered on Fox on September 6.
In the key 18 to 49 demographic, the episode achieved a 0.55 rating, an increase from the 0.45 rating recorded on Fox the previous Friday.
This week’s show kicked off with Cody Rhodes defeating Solo Sikoa in a steel cage match to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. The Bloodline attacked Rhodes following the match which led to the return of Roman Reigns who made the save for Cody.
Randy Orton returned to SmackDown as Kevin Owens’ tag team partner picking up a win over A-Town Down Under.
Elsewhere on the show, Andrade defeated Carmelo Hayes in their best-of-five rubber match. Andrade will face LA Knight next week for the United States Championship.
The closing segment saw Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes sign the contract to face Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at WWE Bad Blood.
The show faced some competition from various college football games, and the shift from Fox to USA Network may have influenced the viewership numbers.
