Reason Behind MJF’s AEW Hiatus – As noted, MJF is set to take time off following the events of All Out. During the opening match of the show, MJF faced Daniel Garcia in a singles contest. The match ended with MJF securing a win by using a low blow while the referee was distracted, followed by a jackknife pin for the victory.
However, after the match, Garcia retaliated by shaking MJF’s hand, only to deliver his own low blow. Garcia then executed a second-rope piledriver, leading to MJF being stretchered out of the arena. It was later revealed that both MJF and former AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland would be taking time off.
According to a report by Ibou of WrestlePurists, MJF’s hiatus is due to his involvement in filming an upcoming movie. Originally, the plan was for Garcia to defeat MJF with a clean finish, but this was changed during the show.
As of now, AEW has not disclosed Daniel Garcia’s role on the upcoming episode of Dynamite, nor has there been an official timeline for MJF and Swerve Strickland’s return to AEW television.
