NXT Title Match and Miz TV Announced for CW Premiere In Chicago – Trick Williams earned his shot at the NXT Championship, which will take place on October 1st, marking NXT’s debut on the CW Network. Williams secured the opportunity by defeating Pete Dunne in a brutal Last Man Standing match during the September 10th episode of NXT.
The match’s climax saw both men crash through tables after a Russian leg sweep from the audience platform. Though both competitors were down, Williams managed to get to his feet just before the count. As he stood tall, he took it a step further by back body dropping NXT Champion Ethan Page through the announce table.
Additionally, WWE has revealed that The Miz will host a special edition of “Miz TV” on the October 1st episode, live from Chicago. While the guest for the segment hasn’t been announced, The Miz will join CM Punk as part of the main roster talent appearing on this landmark episode, ushering in a new era as NXT transitions to the CW Network.
Both Miz and Punk share a history with NXT, having served as pro mentors during the original season of the show in 2010. The Miz was paired with Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan), while Punk mentored Darren Young (Fred Rosser).
