Miro Requests AEW Release – Miro, who has been inactive for the entirety of 2024, is reportedly seeking to terminate his contract with AEW. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Miro requested his release after being on the sidelines longer than expected following AEW’s Worlds End event. Though he has been healthy for some time, creative differences between Miro and AEW have prevented his return to the ring.
There were discussions about involving him in the AEW All In Casino Gauntlet, and earlier this year, Miro himself pitched a feud with Jon Moxley, but both sides failed to align on creative direction. This has reportedly been a recurring issue for Miro and AEW over the past few years.
While it’s unclear if AEW has granted Miro’s release or if WWE is interested in a potential return, it’s known that Miro signed a lucrative contract with AEW in September 2020, originally set to expire in Spring 2022. However, he inked a four-year extension around that time, keeping him under contract until Spring 2026. Whether Miro’s future lies with AEW or elsewhere remains uncertain, but fans are eager to see what’s next for the former TNT Champion.
