Mercedes Mone and AEW Surprised by Megan Thee Stallion’s WWE Deal – Before her song “Neva Play” debuted as the new theme for WWE SmackDown on USA Network during last Friday’s premiere, Megan Thee Stallion was reportedly in talks to collaborate with Mercedes Mone in AEW.
Back in February, Mone met the hip-hop star at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan, where they bonded over their mutual admiration for one another. This connection led to discussions between their respective teams, which allegedly resulted in an agreement to collaborate. Mone even hinted at the possibility of working with Megan Thee Stallion during promotional appearances for AEW All In 2024 at Wembley Stadium, where she playfully teased the idea of getting the rapper involved in a match.
However, when WWE used Megan Thee Stallion’s “Neva Play” as the official SmackDown theme, it reportedly caught Mercedes Mone’s camp by surprise, raising questions about the status of their planned collaboration. It’s currently unclear if their previous agreement has been scrapped or if it could still proceed despite WWE’s involvement and the potential exclusivity clauses in the rapper’s new deal with WWE.
