Giovanni Vinci Loses SmackDown Debut Match in 3 Seconds – Giovanni Vinci’s highly anticipated re-debut on WWE SmackDown on September 6 was short-lived and disappointing, ending in a quick loss.
Vinci entered the ring with confidence, taunting and saluting the crowd before the match. However, as soon as the referee called for the bell, Apollo Crews capitalized on the moment, quickly rolling up Vinci for a surprise pinfall victory in just 3 seconds. Stunned and frustrated by the abrupt defeat, Vinci was left reeling as Crews celebrated by dashing up the ramp, mocking Vinci’s less-than-ideal return.
Vinci’s re-debut had been hyped up with a vignette that aired on August 9, where he declared his readiness to become the man he was always destined to be—unlimited and reinvigorated. This promo hinted at a return to his roots and a reinvention of his character, echoing the persona fans saw during his NXT days.
Vinci, a former member of Imperium alongside Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther, was ousted from the group in April 2024, just before being drafted to SmackDown. His return match may not have gone as planned, but his future on the blue brand is still full of possibilities.
