Pat McAfee Says Tonight Will Be His Last WWE RAW ‘For A While’ – Pat McAfee has announced that he’s taking a break from his WWE commentary duties, with the August 18 episode of WWE RAW being his last for a while. McAfee shared the news on his Instagram Stories, expressing his disappointment about stepping away but acknowledging that the start of football season necessitates his departure.
“Last Monday Night RAW Monday for a bit,” Pat McAfee said as he sang over “Losers” by Jelly Roll and Post Malone. “I’m very bummed out that tonight will be my last trip to that wonderful WWE family for a while. Alright, let’s have a day. I’m bummed out.
“Football season is starting, which is awesome, but the WWE family is where I’m supposed to be,” McAfee added. “And I know that, and I hope they do too.”
McAfee is a full-time analyst on ESPN’s College Gameday, and his break from WWE is not entirely unexpected. He previously took an extended hiatus from WWE SmackDown in 2022 before making surprise appearances at the last two Royal Rumble events. He returned full-time to RAW commentary in January 2024.
Starting September 2, Joe Tessitore will take over commentary duties on WWE RAW, while Michael Cole will move to SmackDown. WWE has yet to announce any additional changes to its commentary teams.
