Kevin Sullivan Passes Away at 74 – Kevin Sullivan, a legendary figure in the world of professional wrestling, has passed away at the age of 74. Sullivan had been battling serious health complications following an emergency surgery that took place several months ago.

“With the heaviest of hearts, we are devastated to have to report the passing of the legendary Kevin Sullivan,” Rose shared. “May he RIP and his family, friends and fans find comfort in how much he was loved.”

Last month, Sullivan’s family revealed that he was in intensive care after a devastating accident in May. Although an emergency surgery saved his leg, Sullivan faced severe complications, including sepsis and encephalitis. A GoFundMe campaign was established to assist with his medical expenses, raising over $50,000 with contributions from notable figures like Tony Khan, Jim & Stacey Cornette, Chris Jericho, Scott D’Amore, Cody Rhodes, Mick Foley, and Diamond Dallas Page.

Hailing from Boston, Sullivan became a pro wrestling star in the 1970s through the 1990s, most famously known for his in-ring rivalry with Dusty Rhodes and his portrayal of the satanic “Prince of Darkness” character. Beyond his wrestling persona, Sullivan was a respected booker, contributing to the creative direction of wrestling in Florida and WCW.

WWE honored Sullivan with a tribute, extending its condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Paul “Triple H” Levesque took to Twitter to express his sorrow: “Kevin Sullivan had one of the most unique minds in the history of our industry, pushing creative boundaries and developing some of the most intriguing characters to step into the ring. He had an unwavering passion for what we do. My thoughts are with his family, friends & fans.”

WWE also released the following statement:

“WWE is saddened to learn Kevin Sullivan has passed away at age 74.

A unique and influential figure in sports-entertainment history, Sullivan found success both in the ring and behind the scenes with his penchant for far out ideas that pushed creative boundaries.

As a villain, Sullivan was a major rival for the ring’s most legendary heroes, including Dusty Rhodes, Hulk Hogan and The Road Warriors. He specialized in leading dangerous factions, which included his wicked Army of Darkness, collegiate bullies The Varsity Club, and the wild Dungeon of Doom, which introduced Big Show to the wrestling world. The onetime “Taskmaster” also became a creative force behind the scenes for WCW.

WWE extends its condolences to Sullivan’s family, friends and fans”
