Jacob Fatu Seen in Walking Boot Following SummerSlam – During the main event of WWE SummerSlam, Jacob Fatu appeared to suffer a significant injury to his right leg after performing a high-risk dive from the top rope onto Cody Rhodes, who was positioned on the announce table. The injury left Fatu unable to stand, prompting him to instruct Solo Sikoa to continue the assault on Rhodes.
After the match, footage posted by The Haroon Twins on Instagram showed Fatu wearing a walking boot on his right foot, adding to concerns about the severity of his injury.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed the incident, with Alvarez noting that the original plan likely involved Fatu and Sikoa double-teaming Rhodes, which would have set the stage for Roman Reigns’ dramatic return. However, Fatu’s injury altered the sequence, leaving Sikoa momentarily frozen before he continued the match on his own.
Alvarez said: “Solo is frozen like ‘Oh sh*t, this guy’s hurt.’ We never see Jacob Fatu again. So, Solo throws (Rhodes) back into the ring and that’s when Roman’s music hit. The thing is, this needed to be two-on-one to give Roman a reason to finally come out. Him coming out when it was one-on-one, it doesn’t even make any sense.”
Alvarez later added: “After the show ended, they sent this dude out there and he helped poor Jacob Fatu to the back, he’s limping the whole way. Hopefully, it’s not bad but, man, it looked pretty bad and he couldn’t get in there for the finish.”
