Bobby Lashley and MVP Exit WWE, Possible New Name and AEW Move Ahead

Bobby Lashley and MVP Exit WWE, Possible New Name and AEW Move Ahead – Bobby Lashley and MVP have officially been moved to the Alumni Section of WWE.com, signaling the end of their current tenure with WWE. This follows weeks of speculation and reports that both stars were on their way out of the company. Lashley’s contract expired earlier this month after WWE made an offer that did not entice him to re-sign immediately.

Lashley, who had two notable runs with WWE, first from 2005 to 2008 and then from 2018 until now, has been a major player in the company, holding titles such as the WWE Championship twice, the Intercontinental Championship twice, and the ECW and United States Championships. MVP, who had been Lashley’s on-screen manager and long-time ally, also exited WWE alongside him.

According to PWInsider, both Lashley and MVP have been removed from WWE’s internal roster, making them free agents able to sign with any promotion. The expectation is that they are likely AEW-bound, where they could reform their popular faction, The Hurt Business, with former member Shelton Benjamin. However, Cedric Alexander, another key member of the group, remains under contract with WWE, so the full reunion may not occur.

Interestingly, a new faction name may have already been filed for trademark by Totally Harmless Concept, LLC on August 15th, under the name “The Hurt Syndicate.” This LLC, which previously filed for MVP’s trademarks and his NJPW theme song “Ghetto Strong Style,” indicates a clear intent to continue the brand in some form. The trademarks listed are for a wide range of merchandise, from clothing to footwear.

As both Lashley and MVP explore their options outside of WWE, all signs point to a continued collaboration, potentially under the new Hurt Syndicate banner, and possibly making a significant impact in AEW.
