Backstage News on WWE Bash in Berlin – WWE’s trip to Germany this week for the Bash In Berlin premium live event is leading to several changes in the company’s usual routine. Due to the time difference, SmackDown will be taped hours in advance of airing on FOX this Friday night. A significant portion of WWE’s staff, including the SmackDown crew, traveled to Berlin on Wednesday, while others arrived earlier to participate in the “Road to WWE Bash In Berlin” live tour.
The company specifically wanted GUNTHER, Ludwig Kaiser, Ilja Dragunov, and Sheamus to be part of the live tour shows leading up to the PLE, which explains Sheamus’s absence from Raw this week. AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura also made the trip to work the live tour shows, and despite being off-screen recently, Bayley is reportedly healthy and participated in the tour as well.
Jacob Fatu’s participation in the event is notable, as WWE has previously faced challenges in getting him outside of the country. His involvement signals a positive development in this regard. Some of these stars could appear on the SmackDown go-home show or during the tapings held the same evening.
WWE has been pleased with the shorter match cards for PLEs, a format that they plan to continue. This approach allows the company to focus on stacking the deck on Raw and SmackDown, particularly when SmackDown is held in the same city as a PLE the night before. Additionally, WWE did a double taping of NXT last week to accommodate the crew’s trip to Berlin, giving those not making the journey a rare extended break.
