Backstage News on Darby Allin’s Potential Involvement in the World Title Picture – AEW is gearing up for its highly anticipated All In pay-per-view event this Sunday, with the main event featuring AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland defending his title against Bryan Danielson.
Many fans are speculating that Danielson might capture the title, as his wrestling career is on the line. However, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer, Danielson’s potential reign as champion might be brief. Meltzer reports that there has been serious discussion within AEW about giving Darby Allin a run as the World Champion, regardless of who wins the title at All In.
Meltzer noted, “Nobody expects a long title run from Danielson, but for one month feels too short. We’ve heard talk of Allin getting a run as champion no matter who wins. We know that’s been talked about seriously, but as to when, that’s less clear.”
This weekend, Allin will challenge Jack Perry for the TNT Championship at All In. Allin, known for his daredevil style, has already held the TNT Championship twice and is a former AEW Tag Team Champion alongside Sting. Since joining AEW in 2019, Allin has rapidly become one of the promotion’s top stars.
In addition to his match at All In, Allin is also scheduled to compete for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship at the AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on September 25, potentially setting the stage for a significant shift in AEW’s title landscape.
