Big Four-Way Match for the NXT Title Set for Heatwave – NXT GM Ava announced that Trick Williams will defend his NXT Championship against Je’Von Evans, Ethan Page, and Shawn Spears in a four-way bout at NXT Heatwave.
Evans earned his title shot by winning the 25-man battle royal on last Tuesday’s NXT. However, Page was never eliminated from the battle royal and then he defeated Evans in the main event of the June 18th episode.
On the June 25th episode, Spears defeated Williams in the main event, putting himself in the title picture. A hooded man charged the ring. The individual was revealed to be Brooks Jensen. Security tried to stop him, but during the scuffle, he hit Williams with part of the broadcast table. Spears then capitalized and hit Williams with the C4 for the win.
With multiple men laying claim to a title shot, and Robert Stone and Stevie Turner arguing, Ava made the decision to make a four-way match.
