Backstage News on Jacob Fatu’s Name in WWE – Jacob Fatu, the newest addition to the Bloodline, made a dramatic entrance on last Friday’s SmackDown by rescuing Solo Sikoa and taking out top stars like Randy Orton, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, and Kevin Owens. His impressive debut was capped off with a spectacular splash off the top rope, putting Rhodes through the announce table.
Before joining WWE, Fatu was a standout in MLW, where he established himself as a top-tier talent. He wrapped up his tenure with MLW in February at their SuperFight event.
WWE has moved quickly to trademark his nickname, “Samoan Werewolf.” Interestingly, they had also considered renaming him Caesar Sikoa—a name now potentially earmarked for Solo Sikoa since they filed a trademark for it as well.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the initial plan was to rebrand Fatu as Caesar Sikoa. However, they ultimately decided to retain his real name, Jacob Fatu, which is a surprising move given WWE’s history of creating unique ring names for talent to ensure full ownership of trademarks. This approach was particularly enforced under Vince McMahon’s leadership. Under Triple H’s guidance, however, there appears to be more flexibility, allowing wrestlers to maintain their established identities.
