The Rock Set to Produce "Who Killed WCW?" Docuseries

The Rock Set to Produce “Who Killed WCW?” Docuseries – The Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions team has another project in the works, this time a new docuseries covering the rise and fall of WCW.

Deadline reported today that the project “Who Killed WCW?” will have Rock and Dany Garcia, founders of Seven Bucks Productions, as the executive producers. The series is produced by Vice Studios Canada in association with Bell Media’s Crave.

The article noted that it “Will explore the complex factors that led to the promotion’s downfall, including management challenges, creative decisions, and the intense competition during the infamous Monday Night Wars. It will feature exclusive, in-depth interviews with wrestlers, executives, and insiders and will shed light never seen before on the personal stories and struggles of those who lived through the rise and fall of WCW.”

The promotion, founded by Ted Turner in 1988 after his Turner Broadcasting System bought Jim Crockett Productions, shut down in 2001 and was purchased by WWE.

Seven Bucks Productions previously worked on the “Tales from the Territories” for the network where Rock and Garcia were also an executive producers. For this next project, Rock and Garcia will produce alongside their team of Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz, Vice TV’s Lee Hoffman, Evan Husney, and Jason Eisener.

Danny Gabai, Guillermo Garcia, and Paul Taylor are executive producers for Vice Studios. It’s slated to premiere on June 4th.

In the trailer, several of WCW’s key players, including Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Booker T, and more weigh in on what went wrong during that brief period in the late 90s-early 2000s. You can see the trailer below.
