Rumor Killer on Rey Fenix Injury – Rey Fenix’s absence from AEW due to injury sparked rumors about the severity of his condition, but recent reports clarify the situation.
At WrestleDream, Rey Fenix participated in a brief match before being escorted backstage due to an apparent injury. Fenix later revealed that he was dealing with an old injury and had intended to defend the AEW International Championship. Following his loss of the title to Orange Cassidy on October 10, Fenix has been inactive, with his absence noted from a January 5th independent show. In a recent interview, Fenix described it as the worst injury of his career but expressed hope for a swift return.
Amidst speculation about Fenix’s condition, rumors circulated suggesting he required a double hip replacement. However, Dave Meltzer clarified on Wrestling Observer Radio that these rumors were false. According to Meltzer, Fenix’s friend confirmed that there was no truth to the rumors of a hip replacement.
“So the story that Rey Fenix was getting a hip replacement or had a hip replacement is inaccurate. Yes [ a double hip replacement], that’s inaccurate. I don’t know exactly what the whole story is. But I’m one of his friends who just said that he did not get a hip replacement.”
