More on WWE’s Interest in Kazuchika Okada – The potential acquisition of Kazuchika Okada by WWE has been a topic of interest, with reports suggesting that WWE has shown interest in the NJPW star for several years. The current speculation is fueled by the fact that Okada’s contract with NJPW is set to expire at the end of January.
Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, acknowledged that while the story might be somewhat overplayed, there is truth to WWE’s longstanding interest in Okada. He pointed out that WWE has been pursuing Okada for an extended period, and the timing might be favorable for them to make a move, considering the expiration of Okada’s contract.
“I think it’s kind of like overplayed in some ways. I mean, at the same time, when I wrote about it, it’s like it’s true. WWE wants Okada. They wanted Okada for how many years? But they do believe that maybe there’s a better chance of getting him now than before. And maybe there is.”
The structure of NJPW contracts, with many expiring at the end of January, adds a layer of intrigue to Okada’s situation. While Meltzer acknowledged that WWE’s interest in Okada is genuine, it remains to be seen whether Okada will indeed make the jump to WWE or explore other opportunities when his contract expires.
