Ilja Dragunov Injured During Match with Ridge Holland – Ridge Holland appeared on the December 19 episode of WWE NXT and challenged NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov to a match. He referenced his past, which includes injuries and accidents, and stated that he wanted to redeem himself.
Ilja Dragunov and Ridge Holland clashed in the main event, and they battled back and forth. But the match stopped when Holland slammed Dragunov, and he seemingly suffered an injury. Officials checked on Dragunov, who could barely move. Holland looked on, clearly feeling concerned and upset about the situation.
Dragunov was then stretchered out of the arena.
Corey Brennan of Fightful reported that the injury was just part of a storyline.
In March 2022, Holland caused Big E to fracture two cervical vertebrae, the C1 and C6, on a botched suplex. Big E has healed, but he has not returned to the ring.
