NXT TV Touring Plans for 2024 Under Consideration – NXT is gearing up for a significant shift in its television landscape in 2024. Following the expiration of WWE’s current deal with the USA Network next fall, NXT TV is set to make a move to The CW network. The reported five-year deal is said to bring a substantial 70% increase compared to the previous arrangement with the USA Network.
In recent months, NXT has seen the inclusion of main roster stars like Paul Heyman, Becky Lynch, John Cena, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Dominik Mysterio, The Undertaker, and Rhea Ripley. With the move to The CW, NXT aims to capitalize on a new platform and audience.
Additionally, there are discussions within WWE about taking NXT on the road next year, potentially bringing the show to different locations. This touring plan is part of an effort to enhance the visual appeal of the show, considering the positive impact of an attractive TV production on viewership. However, the move also raises concerns about the developmental aspect of NXT, as touring could reduce gym days and limit interaction with talent development staff.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said the following:
“They’re going to keep sending the main roster stars down to the show. And as far as anything else goes, there’s talk about taking them touring with the extra money. There are pluses and minuses of it. The pluses are, I think that if it’s if it looks good and looks better, we’ve seen with Raw, we’ve seen with everyone that when it looks good on TV, the look of the TV show is very, very important when it comes to viewership. So moving to bigger places will help to a degree. But the developmental aspect of the thing, if you are taking the people and you’re taking them out of town the travel days and everything like that, it does give them less days in the gym. And it does take a lot of the people who work with the talent away for a couple of days. So there is negativity towards unless like they do arenas in Florida. But the problem with doing arenas in Florida is there are only so many before you burn out the audience. So especially in that area. It would help the show. It would help the numbers for them to move to a bigger setting. They’d sell more tickets. Things like that bring in revenue in that way. I don’t know if they’d sell enough tickets to offset the expense of going, but they might. All of this remains to be seen. But with the new money, it’s more affordable to do that”
