Injuries in AEW Prompted Creative Plan Adjustments

Injuries in AEW Prompted Creative Plan Adjustments – Injuries are going to happen in wrestling, no matter the style or how many years of experience you have. It’s also something that promoters and creative teams will always need to know is going to happen when they least expect it or at the worst of times for business.

AEW President Tony Khan has found this out in the past since launching his company in 2019 and once again recently, causing him to make some notable changes to his creative plans.

It’s an important time for AEW as they build towards its Full Gear pay-per-view event later this month and its Worlds End show on December 30. AEW is also looking to secure a new television deal in 2024.

Some AEW’s top stars, such as Adam Cole, Jon Moxley, and Bryan Danielson, have been recently sidelined with injuries. Cole had to have ankle surgery while Danielson is out with a broken orbital bone. Thankfully, Moxley has since returned to action from a concussion.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the injuries have greatly impacted AEW’s plans.

Meltzer wrote, “The injury situation has greatly affected the booking as so many plans are made and have to be changed and when they are changed, it’s start from scratch and develop new plans, especially since Danielson, Cole and Jon Moxley were all figured into key things and so much had to be changed which created a domino effect on all the plans.”
