Kota Ibushi Reveals Contract Details with AEW – In an interview posted on X by HD Subs, Ibushi disclosed that he officially inked his deal with AEW during the Blood & Guts event on July 19.
What sets his contract apart are the unique conditions he insisted upon before agreeing to the deal. These conditions include his preference to continue residing in Japan and his desire to maintain the freedom to work for other wrestling promotions.
“I’m based in Japan and I will travel for the matches,” Ibushi explained, underlining his commitment to his homeland. “Basically, I’m in Japan, I work in Japan, I will be active.”
He went on to elaborate on the flexibility of his contract, emphasizing his wish to participate in matches for other promotions. Ibushi stated, “There are other things that make the contract even more flexible. Like if I could work for another promotion. That kind of thing is normal. Like, ‘Can I compete in another match?’ We talked about all those kinds of details, and I still got the green light.”
Furthermore, Ibushi mentioned his request to reduce the number of matches in his contract, a move intended to minimize his travel to the United States, allowing him to remain more active in Japan. “Because if I go too many times, my activities in Japan will be limited, so reduce the number of matches a little bit more. When I said that, that is okay too. It’s the best deal.”
Ibushi made his debut with AEW during the Blood & Guts match in the summer. Since then, he has returned for events like All In at Wembley Stadium and WrestleDream in Chicago, solidifying his presence within the promotion.
