Nikki and Brie Explain why They Renounced the Bellas Name – Nikki and Brie Bella, formerly known as “The Bella Twins” during their wrestling careers, have officially retired from wrestling and have also dropped their wrestling personas. The decision to transition away from their wrestling names was made as they wanted to reconnect with their real names, Nikki and Brie Garcia, which reflect their Mexican and Italian heritage.
During a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, the sisters discussed their move away from “The Bella Twins.”
As they enter a new chapter in their lives, preparing to turn 40 in November, the Garcia Twins see this as an opportunity to embrace their true identities as entrepreneurs and mothers. While they had a legendary run in WWE, both Nikki and Brie are looking forward to pursuing new endeavors outside of the wrestling ring.
“So that’s our real names. You know, when we were wrestlers, the Bella Twins, that was our gimmick name, so now that we’re no longer wrestlers, we were retired, we’re like ‘Let’s go back to our roots.’ [We’re] Mexican and Italian. We’re entering this new chapter, about to be 40 in November. So we thought you know entering this next decade of our lives, let’s go back to our roots as entrepreneurs and mothers.”
The Bella Twins were highly successful during their wrestling careers, each winning the WWE Divas Championship at different times. They also gained recognition for their reality television series “Total Bellas” and were honored with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. Their departure from WWE in March 2023 marked the beginning of a new journey as the Garcia Twins, and they are inviting fans to follow their experiences and endeavors in this exciting new phase of their lives.
