Ricky Starks Challenges Ricky Steamboat – Here’s what’s in store for the September 2, 2023 episode of AEW Collision, airing from the United Center in Chicago, IL.
First up, fans can look forward to a highly anticipated singles match between Jay White and Dax Harwood. This encounter serves as a prelude to their face-off the following night at the All Out pay-per-view, where Bullet Club Gold will collide with FTR and the Young Bucks.
In addition, The Acclaimed & ‘Daddy Ass’ will put their freshly acquired AEW World Trios Championships on the line as they defend against the trio of Daniel Garcia, ‘Daddy Magic’ Matt Menard, and ‘Cool Hand’ Angelo Parker.
Furthermore, The Outcasts, consisting of Saraya, Ruby Soho, & Toni Storm, will step into the ring against the opposing trio of Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, and Kris Statlander.
Tony Khan then announces Ricky Starks is set to challenge Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat to a Strap Match at the upcoming AEW All Out event. Starks had previously been suspended due to his actions on the August 5 edition of AEW Collision. In that incident, he attacked Steamboat, who was serving as a special outside official, after Starks’ loss to the “real” AEW World Champion CM Punk. During the altercation, Starks used Steamboat’s own belt to whip him.
It’s worth noting that Steamboat, at 70 years old, made a return to wrestling for a one-off match at the Big Time Wrestling Return of the Dragon event on November 27, 2022. Prior to that, his last match was in 2010.
