Edge Reportedly Headed To AEW – Rumors persist regarding WWE Hall of Famer Edge’s potential move to AEW, fueled by discussions within both wrestling companies.
A recent report from PWTorch adds that Edge presented WWE with conditions to continue working with them, but WWE declined to meet those requirements. This has led to a growing belief within WWE that Edge is likely bound for AEW. It’s speculated that Edge might have had insights into what AEW could offer him, possibly stemming from discussions about pay with other high-profile wrestlers in AEW, or from close friends in the company like Christian Cage or AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR.
WWE holds no grudges towards the possibility of Edge joining AEW. His 25th-anniversary celebration on SmackDown showcased his popularity within the company. WWE frequently creates special segments and episodes, and the SmackDown event was an opportunity to celebrate Edge positively. WWE also aimed to draw a larger audience with the Edge vs. Sheamus match as the main event.
AEW President Tony Khan is a known admirer of Edge and sees potential value in having him join the roster, either as a wrestler or in another capacity.
Edge recently confirmed that his WWE contract will conclude at the end of September, and his match against Sheamus on SmackDown marked the contract’s final bout. It remains uncertain whether there’s a non-compete clause associated with the contract expiration.
