AEW to Pause Running "House Rules" Events?

Up until a few months ago, AEW didn’t run house shows. Instead, they did just TV and pay-per-view events as AEW President Tony Khan saw that the days of wrestling promotions earning the majority of its revenue from live events were a thing of the past.

Instead, WWE and AEW earn big money from their media rights deals. AEW also has a notable pay-per-view revenue stream.

However, this year, Khan made the decision to start running house shows, titled House Rules, although that could be changing following the premiere of AEW Collision on June 17.

The new show will air every Saturday night on TNT in primetime. All of AEW’s house shows up to this point have been held on Friday and Saturday nights.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer speculated AEW house shows might go on hiatus.

Meltzer wrote, “AEW ran what may be its last house shows for a long time over the weekend. With them adding Collision, I don’t see house shows likely and there aren’t any more left on the schedule.”
