AEW Double Or Nothing Estimate PPV Buys – This year’s AEW Double or Nothing had an interesting build as the promotion decided to go with the Anarchy in the Arena match serving as the main event instead of having MJF defend the World Heavyweight Title in a Fatal 4-way match against Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry.
Heading into this show, many felt the weaker than usual lineup would hurt the pay-per-view buys for the show. However, it doesn’t appear to be the case.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that television PPV buys did “virtually identical with Revolution on the Thursday after the show, as within 100 nationally and 0.2 percent ahead of the same pace for the previous show.”
The other numbers such as streaming (Bleacher Report in the United States and FITE internationally) were also similar, trending to identical numbers to Revolution this past February.
Compared to last year’s Double or Nothing, headlined by CM Punk vs. Hangman Page for the World Title, it was down 31.3 percent in television buys.
Meltzer noted the best estimate currently is 130,000 to 135,000 in total. Keep in mind this number could go down or up slightly as not all of the data is in just yet.
AEW returns to pay-per-view on June 25 for its Forbidden Door 2 event with NJPW.
