5/23 NXT Preview

NXT Results (5/23) – We begin with comments from contenders of the NXT Women’s Title Tournament.

Lyra Valkyria says two epic encounters stand between her and the title.  She will get past Cora and advance to the finals.

Cora Jade says that NXT wants her and need her to be the champion.  You will be looking at the lights tonight and you will look at me as the champion on Sunday.

Tiffany Stratton says everything has set in place since she is the center of the universe.  The next step will be to become the NXT Women’s Champion.

Roxanne Perez says tonight is not a fantasy, it is reality.  You are a moment maker, but Roxanne says she is a history maker.  Nothing will stop her from becoming a two time women’s champion.

NXT Women’s Title Tournament Semifinals: Cora Jade vs. Lyra Valkyria

They lock up and Cora with a forearm.  Lyra with punches and then she floats over and goes for a springboard back elbow but she slips on the ropes.  Cora with an inside cradle for a near fall.  Lyra with a slam for a near fall.  Cora sends Lyra to the apron.  Cora with an elbow and chop in the ropes.  Cora with a drop kick to Lyra in the ropes.  Cora gets a near fall.  Lyra with a rollup for a near fall.  Cora counters into a rocking chair and snaps the neck.  Cora gets a near fall.  Cora gets a near fall.  Cora with a rear chin lock.  Lyra with forearms and a missile drop kick.  Lyra with a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall but Cora with a front face lock and knee.  Cora with a running knee into the corner but Lyra catches Cora and hits an exploder for a near fall.

Cora misses an elbow in the ropes and Lyra with a spinning back heel kick for the three count.

Winner:  Lyra Valkyria (advances to finals)

After the match, Lyra looks at the title belt on its table and Cora clips Lyra.  Cora hits Lyra with the kendo stick.  Referees come to the ring and they hold their hands out to tell Cora to stop.

– We see Axiom and Dabba Kato walking in the back, ready for our next match.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and we see Dijak arriving in the most dangerous loading dock in Sports Entertainment and he is attacked by Dragunov.  Dragunov with kicks and he tries to close the door on Dijak but Dijak blocks it and officials stop him.

Axiom vs. Dabba-Kato

Dabba misses a punch and Axiom with kicks to the leg.  Dabba cannot contain Axiom.  Axiom with an enzuigiri.  Dabba grabs Aixom and Axiom flips out of a choke slam and he kicks Dabba.  Dabba with a clothesline.  Dabba is sent to the floor in front of the announce table.  Dabba chops Axiom against the announce table and then he press slams Axiom over the top rope back into the ring.  Axiom with a dragon screw while Dabba tries to get back in the ring.  Axiom with kicks and a springboard drop kick to the knee.  Axiom with kiccks and Dabba with a clothesline and a vertical choke slam for the three count.

Winner:  Dabba Kato

After the match, Dabba attacks Axiom until Reggie springs into the ring.  Dabba leaves the ring and officials hold Dabba back. Reggie offers his hand to Axiom.

– We go to Tony D’Angelo in the interrogation room. Tony says he wants to get straight to the point. Tony is asked why is his name coming up in ongoing investigations.  Tony says he is an honest man.  Tony asks who gave them the tips and he is accused of bribery. Tony is shown a video from an informant. Tony says he has trouble seeing the footage.  He says there is no way that is him in that video. One of the officers tells officer one that there is new footage to look at. Tony tries to listen into what they are saying.

We go to commercial.

– We are back with a video package for Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker from Stand and Deliver.

Bron says when you are not at your best, you aren’t going to beat Carmelo.  Bron asks what did the last year get him.  He was defending the title and passing the torch?  He is going to burn this bitch down.  Hayes says they come from the same mold but that isn’t true.  Bron says he just woke up.  Bron says he cut Hayes in half when he sent him through the stage.  Then you want to make a comeback and I speared your ass out of the sky.  I am not coming for a homecoming, I am coming to dish out a massacre.

– Gallus are in the ring and they have something to say.

Joe says Sunday’s show looks stacked.  Wolfgang says he thought Tony and Stacks would have challenged them for the titles but he hasn’t seen them since.    Joe says Tony has been detained.  Mark says he must have upset someone at the docks.  Joe says he doesn’t think we will see Tony for a long time.  Mark asks if the Creeds said they would step up and call them.  He says he hasn’t gotten any call from them. 

The Creeds make their way to the ring.  

Julius says it sounds like Gallus doesn’t want a challenge.  They did call them last week, but they found them this week and will say it to their faces.  They want a title match for Sunday. Mark says they get it and you want a chance of regaining the titles.  They are a different animal. Brutus says you are out of surprises.  You played your last hand at Stand and Deliver. Julius says they are not here to talk about bar food, shoot darts, or play pool.  They are here to talk about Battleground.  He says it is their time.

Joe punches Julius but Julius with a double leg take down.  Julius and Brutus square off with Mark and Wolfgang but Joe joins in.  Channing Lorenzo comes out to make the save for the Creeds.

– McKenzie is with Wes Lee and she brings up what happened last week. Wes says he knows everyone is looking out for themselves in NXT.  He says he really thought he could trust Tyler.  He does not know if it is Gacy playing with his head or dealing with this title reign. McKenzie has a guest and Tyler shows up. Wes says he doesn’t want anything from Tyler. Tyler says he has nothing but respect for Wes.  Joe Gacy is a different kettle of fish.  Tonight, he has to deal with Eddy Thorpe.

Eddy Thorpe vs. Tyler Bate

They lock up and Eddy with a wrist lock.  Bate with a reversal.  Eddy with a reversal and a waist lock into a side head lock.  Eddy holds on as Tyler tries to send him off the ropes.  Eddy with a side head lock take down.  Tyler with a rollup for a near fall.  Tyler with an arm drag and Eddy with a head scissors.  Tyler with a leg sweep and a near fall.  Tyler stops Eddy but Eddy knows what is coming so he backs up.  Tyler with a side head lock take down and a drop kick for a near fall.  Tyler gets Eddy on his shoulders but Eddy gets back to his feet.  Tyler with a head butt to the midsection and Eddy with a twisting cross body.  Tyler with an inside cradle for a near fall.

Eddy with a chop and snap mare followed by a kick to the back.  Eddy gets a near fall.  Eddy with an arm bar.  Eddy with an abdominal stretch.  Tyler with European uppercuts.  Eddy with a knee and Tyler with a knee lift in the corner and a corkscrew back elbow off the turnbuckles.  Tyler with a suplex and a shooting star press for a near fall.  Tyler sets for Tyler Driver 97 but Eddy escapes and connects with an uppercut.  Bate goes for the rebound clothesline but Eddy with a boot to the arm.  Bate with a rebound clothesline followed by Tyler Driver 97 for the three count.

Winner:  Tyler Bate

After the match, Joe Gacy attacks Tyler and Wes Lee goes into the ring and he accidentally hits Tyler.  Gacy with a handspring double clothesline and then he holds up the title belt while Ava stands at ringside.  

– Lyra is in the medical trainer’s room and McKenzie asks about her condition. Lyra says her knee is swollen but she does not feel any ligament damage so she will be fine.  She says she will be ready for Battleground. McKenzie asks Lyra who she wants to face in the finals.  Lyra says she wants Roxanne because she thinks Roxanne is the best in NXT.

– Noam Dar walks with his Heritage Cup and Nathan Frazer walks as well.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and we see footage from the break when Wes tried to help Tyler up but Tyler pushed Wes and Wes pushed back.  Wes walks away.

Noam Dar vs. Nathan Frazer

They lock up and Dar with a wrist lock.  Frazer with a wrist lock take down but Dar holds on.  Frazer with a side head lock.  Dar with a side head lock of his own.  Dar misses a kick and Frazer with a side head lock take down.  Dar with a head scissors and Frazer escapes.  Frazer with a side head lock take down.  Dar backs Frazer into the ropes and Dar misses a kick.  Frazer with a side head lock take down.  Frazer with another take down.  Dar with a knee and forearm followed by an Irish whip but Frazer flips out of the corner and then he misdirects in the ring and hits a running drop kick that sends Dar to the floor.  Dar crawls to his cup.

Frazer slides to the floor and he punches Dar and sends him into the apron.  Frazer with a suplex and he gets a near fall.  Frazer with a sunset flip for a near fall.  Frazer gets another near fall.  Frazer with a cravate on Dar.  Frazer holds on to the cravate.  Dar with a knee to Frazer and Frazer sets for a suplex but Dar kicks Frazer in the knee.  Dar with a running forearm into the corner.  Dar with a snap mare and an elbow to the back.  Dar with an Irish whip and Frazer floats over and flips across the ring.  Dar kicks Frazer off the turnbuckles.  Dar with an arm bar.  Frazer goes to the apron and tries for a springboard move but Dar with a kick to stop Frazer.

Dar hangs Frazer in the ropes and then kicks him in the chest and gets a near fall.  Dar with kicks to the arm and then he stomps on the ankle.  Dar gets a near fall.  Dar with forearms to Frazer from the turnbuckles.  Frazer with punches and Dar with a forearm.  Dar with a kick to the chest.  Dar with more kicks to the chest.  Frazer blocks a kick and Frazer with a springboard moonsault into a reverse DDT.  Frazer with punches and an Irish whip but Dar sends Frazer to the apron.  Frazer avoids Dar on a springboard move and he kicks Dar and then hits a springboard double sledge.  Frazer with a swinging brainbuster for a near fall.  Frazer goes to the turnbuckles for a Phoenix Splash but Dar moves.  Frazer rolls through.  Dar with a swinging dragon screw but Dar is sent into the turnbuckles.  Frazer with a kick.  Dar with a super kick and he gets Frazer in the air and then applies a cross arm breaker.  

Frazer with a rollup for a near fall.  Frazer with a thrust kick and he falls onto Dar for a near fall.  Frazer with chops and Dar fires back with forearms.  Frazer with chops but Dar with a punch and he sets for a suplex but Frazer with an inside cradle for a near fall.  Dar with a back elbow for a near fall.  

Dragon Lee makes his way to ringside and he walks over to the Heritage Cup.  

Dar sees Lee next to his cup and Dar pushes him.  Lee teases with a punch and Dar backs off.  Frazer with a suicide dive followed by a Phoenix Splash for the three count.

Winner:  Nathan Frazer

– McKenzie is in the men’s locker room and he asks Ilja why did he attack Dijak. Ilja says he is making Dijak feel the pain going into Sunday.  He says if he can go anywhere, Dijak will understand that he is Unberseig.Dijak walks in and he goes after Dijak. All of the men do their best to separate Dijak and Ilja.

We go to commercial.

– We see Carmelo Hayes in Boston over the weekend making some media appearances.  He says he feels comfortable coming home.  He wants to be around his people, where he paid his dues.  He says it is his first time back as the NXT Champion and he is excited to have his family there to see him.  We see Carmelo had Kowloon and he signs a photo for the restaurant.  He talks about the history of Boston as a city of champions.  We see Carmelo at a Celtics game.  Carmelo says it is crazy if Bron thinks he is going to beat Carmelo in his backyard.  He knows that Bron wants to ruin his homecoming.  He knows what he needs to know about Bron after being in the ring with him.

Hank Walker vs. Tank Ledger

They shake hands before locking up.  Tank with a side head lock.  Tank with a shoulder tackle but Hank stays on his feet.  Hank goes for a shoulder tackle and Tank bounces off.  They try again with the same result.  Both go for a shoulder tackle.  Tank runs Hank into the corner and connects with forearms.  Hank runs Tank into the corner and connects with shoulders.  Hank with a chop.  Tank escapes a slam and sends Hank into the turnbuckles.  Tank with an Irish whip and slam.  Tank with a cartwheel and a diving head butt for a near fall.  Hank and Tank exchange punches.  Tank with a forearm and Hank with punches.  Hank with a slam and splash into the corner.  Hank misses a splash and then both men go for cross body presses and both go down.  Hank gets the three count.

Winner:  Hank Walker

After the match, Hank helps Tank up but Bron Breakker spears Hank and then he spears Tank. He tells Hayes he will see him Sunday.

– Channing stops by and Brutus tells Channing Tony finally got caught sleeping with fish.  Brutus says they are going to win the titles.  Channing says with Tony being detained, they can work out an arrangement to have their back. Julius says they have been burned multiple times.  He says that they can have a title match when Tony gets out.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and Gigi Dolin makes her way to the ring.

She says she is not shy about the broken home she grew up in.  Or learning the hard way what addiction is like from their parents.  They did not know what a stable family was, but she thought she found one in NXT.  Jacy cut her out of her life and now she will do anything to end Jacy.  I will purge everything I ever felt for you.

Jacy Jayne shows up in the crowd and she says that is enough emo talk for one night.  Jacy says this is where it all started.  We would sit in the lounge and look down on everyone.  You were riding shotgun to her.

Gigi says if it was so great, why throw it away.  

Jacy says she outgrew Gigi and was sick of carrying Gigi in matches.  Everyone knew that she would be a bigger star on her own.  

Gigi says it is funny that Jacy wants to move on but you have been focused on me ever since.  You want to move on so you won’t be remembered as the third wheel.

Jacy says the last time they were in that ring, she beat Gigi and embarrassed her in front of her brother.

Gigi says you won the match, but you needed eight stitches to fix your face.  I beat you at Roadblock so it is one to one.  Let’s settle this right here, right now.

Jacy says everyone loves Gigi.  Go ahead and play to the crowd and do what you do best.  Pander to your loyal fanbase who live on social media and eat up your pathetic Instagram stories.  I cannot wait to be done with you once and for all.  Next week, let’s end it where it began.  She says she doesn’t want to end it in any match, she wants to end it inside a steel cage.

Gigi says she doesn’t pander to anyone and she wears her heart on her sleeve.  She says she is real and everyone sees that.  Jacy is a fake ass bitch. You want a steel cage match next week, let’s take it up a notch and make it a weaponized steel cage match.

Jacy accepts the match.

Luca Crusifino says he tried to explain your situation to Mr. Stone and it will be settled in the ring.  When you are in the ring with Luca Crusifino, you will wish you settled it out of court.

We go to commercial.

– We see footage of Noam Dar and Oro Mensah talking in the back filmed by Anonymous and Dar is asking Mensah to be in his corner since Nathan Frazer will be in Dragon Lee’s corner.  Mensah says no and walks away. Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend walk past and they walk away from Dar. 

Luca Crusifino vs. Von Wagner

Luca says something to Von and Von runs Luca into the corner and connects with shoulders and forearms.  Von with an Irish whip and a splash into the corner.  Von with a boot and Luca goes to the floor.  Von sends Luca back into the ring and Von misses a splash into the corner.  Luca kicks Von in the corner but Von pushes him away.  Luca with a hip toss into a neck breaker for a near fall.  Von with a forearm and punches.  Von with a back elbow and Luca sends Von over the top rope to the floor.  Luca goes after Stone and he wants the picture that Stone has showed Von.  Luca calls Von a freak.

Von gets up and he has had enough of Luca.  Von with a clothesline and they go back into the ring.  Von with forearms while Luca tries to get to the apron.

The referee makes his five count and calls for the bell.

Winner:  Luca Crusifino (by disqualification)

Von sends Luca into the announce table and he sets for a power bomb on the floor but Stone stops him.  Von thinks about it and he power bombs Luca onto the announce table.

– We return to Law and Order Tony D’Angelo Unit. The officers enter the room and Tony is arrested. Tony pulls the ‘do you know who I am’ card as he is taken away.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and Gigi versus Jacy in a Weaponized Cage is official for next week.

NXT Women’s Title Tournament Semifinals: Tiffany Stratton vs. Roxanne Perez

Tiffany wants a test of strength to mock Roxanne’s height.  Tiffany with the advantage and she gets a near fall.  Roxanne with a waist lock and Tiffany misses elbows and a leg sweep.  Roxanne with a bridge for a near fall.  Perez with a side head lock.  Roxanne with a single leg take down and a La Mistica but Tiffany with a cartwheel to escape.  Perez with a rollup for a near fall.  Perez with a sunset flip for a near fall.  Tiffany backs Perez into the corner and Perez with a back elbow.  Perez leaps over Tiffany and Tiffany hits the turnbuckles.  Perez with an arm drag into an arm bar.  Tiffany with a forearm.  Tiffany with an arm wringer as she works on the left arm.  Perez with punches and a satellite head scissors that sends Tiffany to the floor.

Perez with a suicide dive and Tiffany catches her but Perez gets to her feet and sends Stratton into the ring apron.  Perez goes up top and Tiffany clips the legs and Perez falls to the mat and goes to the floor.  Tiffany runs Perez into the apron and connects with a forearm.  Tiffany gets a near fall.  Tiffany with kicks in the corner.  Tiffany chokes Perez in the ropes and then she gets a near fall with a Jericho cover.  Tiffany chokes Perez in the ropes again and hits a running hip strike to the back and gets a near fall.  Perez with punches and Tiffany pulls Perez down by the hair and then hits a double stomp and gets a near fall.

Tiffany stretches Perez.  Tiffany with a kick and she goes for a gutwrench suplex but Perez lands on her feet.  Perez with a drop kick to send Tiffany to the floor.  Perez with a suicide dive and then she hits a second one.  Perez goes up top and hits a cross body but Tiffany holds on and rolls through to get Perez on her shoulders.  Tiffany with a Finlay Slam but she misses the Best Moonsault Ever when Perez moves.  Perez with running European uppercuts.  Perez misses a kick and Tiffany with a sit out spinebuster for a near fall.  Tiffany puts Perez on the top rope and Tiffany picks up Perez for a superplex.

Perez with a punch and a Frankensteiner for a near fall.  Perez with punches to the midsection and forearms to the back.  Perez goes for a side Russian leg sweep but Tiffany counters and sends Perez to the mat.  Stratton goes for a power bomb and Perez with a rollup for a near fall.  Tiffany gets a near fall.  Perez with a side Russian leg sweep for a near fall.  Perez with a back heel kick and Tiffany sends Perez into teh ropes and Pop Rox.  Tiffany with a Finlay Slam and Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the three count.

Winner:  Tiffany Stratton (advances to finals)

– They run through the card for Battleground.

– Back in the ring and we see Lyra and Tiffany arguing by the title belt. Roxanne Perez is at the entrance and she is attacked by the hooded person and they run away.

– Dijak walks to the ring and Ilja Dragunov attacks him from behind.  They exchange punches around ringside.  Ilja with an enzuigiri and he goes for Torpedo Moscow against the steps but Dijak moves.  Dijak sends Ilja over the ringside barrier.

Dijak signs the No Contact Agreement and security tries to stop him.  Dijak grabs Ilja by the throat and Ilja sends Dijak into the ringside barrier and chops Dijak.  Dijak signs the agreement and it is time for Ilja and Dijak to attack security.  Dijak kicks Ilja and then picks up the ring steps but Ilja kicks Dijak and he falls onto the steps.  Ilja with a diving forearm off the ring steps.

Officials are finally able to separate the two as we go to credits.
