Story Behind FTR Contracts Was Just A Storyline

Story Behind FTR Contracts Was Just A Storyline – FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) will be staying in AEW for the next few years after signing a four-year contract with the promotion.

The duo had been off TV for weeks until their return at the Revolution before beating The Gunns for the World Tag Team Titles.

The tag team confirmed the length of their deal on Friday’s episode of Rampage, which was taped on Wednesday night after Dynamite. They also revealed that they plan to retire after this contract period.

Leading up to the announcement, Harwood noted publicly that they thought it was best to stay with Tony Khan’s promotion despite doing a storyline where they teased leaving AEW for another WWE stint or an independent run.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that they signed the deal months ago.

Meltzer wrote, “It should be noted that we were told months ago that the deal was already done and everything public was an angle given the storyline with the belts vs. leaving the company, and due to that, nobody could say so publicly.”
