The Bella Twins Confirm WWE Departure – Nikki and Brie Garcia, formerly known as The Bella Twins, are entering a new chapter.
As noted, the duo removed all references to The Bella Twins from their social media handles, stated that they were now using their real names, and teased their next chapter.
Per PEOPLE, Nikki and Brie confirmed that they are leaving WWE, and they announced the news during the newest episode of their Sirius XM show, which has been named The Nikki & Brie Show.
“Today we are officially from here on out, the Garcia Twins, Brie and Nikki Garcia,” Nikki said.
Nikki also noted that the sisters are enjoying their various roles as mothers, entrepreneurs, hosts and executive producers.
Brie stated that she is “so excited to close the chapter on Brie Bella” and begin a new chapter. Likewise, Nikki explained that it’s time to begin a “new chapter”, though leaving their identities as the Bellas was challenging.
Nikki and Brie had been with WWE since 2007, and they had a successful run with the company. Between the two of them, they held the WWE Divas Championship three times. They were announced as WWE Hall of Fame inductees as part of the Class of 2020, but WWE held a combined ceremony for the 2020 and 2021 classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The former Bella Twins recently criticized WWE for the company’s lack of representation for women’s wrestling legends during the 30th Anniversary episode of WWE RAW on January 23. Nikki later stated that the company didn’t have plans for them and booked the duo for a media tour instead.
