AEW Rampage Results (3/31)

AEW Rampage Results (3/31) – It’s time for AEW Rampage and it was recorded after Dynamite on Wednesday at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, MO. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone.

Sammy Guevara w/Tay Melo vs Konosuke Takeshita

Sammy stalls to start the match. They start with Sammy gaining a waistlock and Takeshita has trouble breaking it. When he does, he runs the ropes into a corkscrew dropkick from Sammy, who does his pose on the mat. Sammy hits a series of dismissive kicks and shrugs, and Takeshita drops him for his arrogance. In the back both Jungle Boy and Darby Allin are watching the match.

Takeshita then hits a flying shoulder tackle who then does Sammy’s post on the mat. Sammy is able to get out of a vertical suplex and drapes Takeshita on the top rope. Sammy then hits a 360 leg drop on him, knocking Takeshita to the floor. Takeshita recovers and gives Sammy a high boot and then hits a dive onto Sammy on the floor. Back in the ring, Takeshita tries for a deadlift German off the top in the corner, but Sammy escapes and hits a stomp on Takeshita, who was tied in the tree of woe.

Sammy calls for a brain buster as we come back from picture in picture, and Takeshita reverses it for one of his own. Sammy and Takeshita both go for a knee strike and nail each other. Takeshita, on his knees, hits a release German suplex and follows with a clothesline. Takeshita follows with a modified pile driver, and then a release German suplex, but Sammy lands on his feet. Sammy is able to get a Spanish Fly for two.

Sammy goes to the top, trying for a shooting star press, but Takeshita rolls out of the way and follows up with a forearm. Sammy gets a thrust kick and a destroyer. Sammy goes to the top and Takeshita catches Sammy mid-cutter and hits a doctor bomb for two. Takeshita goes to the top and Sammy gets a leaping kick and then joins him. They fight on the top and Takeshita gets an avalanche release German Suplex from the top followed by a clothesline.

This SHOULD be a finishing move that ends the match.  Visually impressive and hard to pull off.  But it’s not as Takeshida only gets a two count.

Takeshita gets ready to charge, but Tay grabs his foot, and when he turns to see, Sammy gets a rising knee strike and the GTH for the pin and the win.

Winner: Sammy Guevara

House of Black (Malakai Black and Brody King) w/Julia Hart vs The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta)

Black and Beretta start up with a collar and elbow tie up. They quickly trade holds and then run the ropes where Beretta ends it with a meteora. Beretta drives Black into his corner where Chuck tags in. They throw hands and kicks. Black takes Chuck down for two, who then stomps on Chuck. As Black drags Chuck to his corner, King tags in and knocks Beretta off the apron before joining in on the attack on Chuck. They whip Chuck into the corner, and Chuck dodges a charge from Black, whipping him into King. Black rolls over King’s back and they double-team with Chuck falling to a clothesline for two, broken up by Beretta. All four men brawl on the outside as we go to picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Chuck has been the babyface in peril through the break. Chuck is able to get the hot tag after a jawbreaker. Beretta tries to clean house but is attacked by King. Beretta is able to drop Black with a suplex.  but King hoists him up for a rolling slam. Beretta is able to escape with a rope assisted DDT.

Beretta hits a leap onto King on the floor and follows with a shotgun drop kick off the top onto Black for two. Chuck is tagged in and they try to set up for a couple team maneuver, but Black escapes and gets a rising knee strike on Beretta. Chuck hits a leaping sledge and the Best Friends get Soul Food followed by the hug.

King breaks it up and gets a series of strikes before being dumped to the outside with a low bridge. Trent goes for a tope through the ropes, but King catches him and slams him on the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring.  King grabs a chair and winds up to hit Beretta, but Chuck grabs the chair and gives King a forearm. King grabs Chuck and power bombs him through the timekeeper’s table. Beretta nails King with a chair to the back and the ref calls for a DQ.

No winner: Disqualification

The fight continues after the bell and before Black and King finishes with Chuck in the ring.  Orange Cassidy and Buddy Matthews fight on the apron. Black and King hit Dante’s inferno on Chuck and Cassidy has been taken out.

Marina Shafir vs Taya Valkyrie

Shafir comes to the ring without Vickie Geurerro, who announced recently she is finishing up with AEW. The announcers remind us that Smart Mark Sterling would serve Taya with a lawsuit if she uses Road to Valhalla in the match.

They lock up collar and elbow and quickly move to waistlocks. Shafir takes Taya down and Taya fights out of it by picking the leg. Jade Cargill and her crew come to the stage.

Shafir gets wrist control and takes down Taya. They struggle on the mat until Taya is able to get a double arm drag. Taya gets a series of kicks and a takedown for two. Shafir gets a series of kicks to drop Taya. Shafir tries for her submission Greedy, but Taya blocks it. Taya takes down Shafir with a knee strike and hits Road to Valhalla for the pin and the win.

Winner: Taya Valkyrie

Jade calls for the music to be stopped and Sterling sends the court processor to serve Taya with a lawsuit. Taya then hits the Road to Valhalla on a court processor. Jade tries to charge the ring, but Leila Grey and Sterling hold her back.

Juice Robinson vs. Action Andretti

Juice charges the corner, but Andretti dodges and goes for a quick rollup, getting two. They run the ropes and Andretti is able to out maneuver Juice, getting an arm drag after running up the ropes. Juice is able to get a back elbow as Andretti charges to the corner and shows Andretti down for a beat down in the corner. Juice screams that Andretti is Ricky Starks tonight.

Juice whips him into the ropes and Andretti gets a tijeras, followed by a tornado off the bottom rope for two. Andretti gets a series of chops in the corners. Juice is able to reverse it and tries for a stalling vertical suplex, but Andretti reverses it into the sleeper hold while on Juice’s back. Andretti turns it into an arm drag, and when Andretti tries for a tope, Juice is able to get a cutter in the ropes. Juice tosses Andretti into the steel steps at ringside as we go picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Juice has been in charge, but Andretti is able to get a hard slap on Juice. Juice gives Andretti a series of knees and tosses him over the rope, but Andretti lands on the apron. Andretti is able to take Juice down with a series of elbow strikes. He tosses Juice to the outside and hits a tope. Andretti gets a kick from the apron and follows with a springboard moonsault.

He rolls Juice into the ring and Andretti hits a springboard clothesline. He drags Juice into position for a springboard moonsault, but Juice rolls out of the way so that Andretti misses. Andretti covers for two. Andretti picks him up for a waistlock, and Juice reverses it for a standing German suplex. Andretti lands on his feet. Andretti gets a thrust kick and both men collapse with Andretti covering for two.

The crowd does NOT like that Andretti may have botched a sliced bread move and rains down boos. They take time to recover.

The match resets and Andretti comes off the ropes with a high DDT into a pin for two. Andretti charges into a high boot from Juice. Juice hits his spike DDT called The Juice is Loose for the pin and the win.

Winner: Juice Robinson

Ricky Starks charges the ring and Juice takes off for the back with Starks chasing him and we’re out of time!
