Sami Zayn is getting a chance to redeem himself on SmackDown next week.
WWE has announced that a singles match between Zayn and Kevin Owens will take place on SmackDown next Friday. The two faced off in a tag team match last week, with Owens & John Cena defeating Zayn & Roman Reigns. Zayn lost the match for his team after Owens hit him with a stunner.
Following their loss, Reigns was upset with Zayn to open tonight’s SmackDown. Reigns was unhappy that Zayn came up short after calling his shot. Reigns accused Zayn of wanting to be the Tribal Chief. Owens then made his way out and challenged Reigns to an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble. Reigns accepted the challenge.
Zayn tried to apologize to Reigns later in the show, but Reigns refused to accept his apology. Instead, Reigns apologized to Zayn. Reigns said he shouldn’t have talked to Zayn like he did. Reigns admitted that he was mad at Owens and was taking it out on Zayn. Paul Heyman then told Zayn that Reigns is giving him the opportunity to redeem himself by facing Owens next week. Zayn vowed to take care of their Kevin Owens problem.
Next Friday’s SmackDown is being held at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Here’s what’s been announced for the episode:
- Intercontinental Champion Gunther defends against Braun Strowman
