NXT Results (1/17) – Tonight’s NXT episode opens up on the USA Network with a look back at last week’s NXT New Year’s Evil special. We’re now live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida as Vic Joseph welcomes us. He’s joined at ringside by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. Fans chant “NXT!” as we go right to the ring.

Axiom and Apollo Crews vs. Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes

The music hits and out first are Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams for tonight’s opening bout. Axiom is out first for his team. Axiom hits the ring and has some words with his opponents. Out next comes Apollo Crews as Alicia Taylor does the introductions. Crews is all smiles as he hits the ring and poses in the corner while Hayes and Williams look on from the corner.

Axiom and Trick go at it to start. Axiom works on the arm but Trick winds Axiom’s arm up to turn it around. Axiom with a dropkick. Trick locks up and goes into the ropes but the referee warns him. Axiom dodges a big right but Trick then drops him with a shoulder.

Trick over-powers Axiom again, then catches him in mid-air with a big right hand. Axiom goes down. Trick takes Axiom to the corner and works him over as Hayes tags in to “Melo!” chants. They double team Axiom but he fights them off and nails a double takedown for a pop. Axiom with a big arm drag to Hayes, then a dropkick. Crews tags in and decks Hayes. They run the ropes and Crews nails a dropkick.

Crews dropkicks Trick as he runs in. Crews with a double hip toss to both opponents. Trick dodges a move and Hayes takes Crews down. Hayes with a pump kick to flatten Crews, then a hurricanrana to take him back down by the arm. Crews kicks out at 2. Fans chant for Hayes again. Axiom tags in and Hayes is double teamed. Crews with a big knee to send Hayes into a German suplex by Axiom.

Hayes regroups with Trick at ringside, but Crews presses Axiom out of the ring, onto Trick and Hayes at ringside. Fans pop as Crews poses in the ring while Axiom poses on the apron and we go to a picture-in-picture commercial break.

Back from the break and Axiom rolls Hayes for 2. They run the ropes and collide with both going down. The referee checks on both competitors. They tangle again an in comes Crews, who stops Trick as he also runs in. Axiom and Crews hit stereo German suplexes. They then block stereo attempts by Hayes and Trick. Trick and Hayes turn it around and Hayes nails a springboard clothesline to Axiom for a 2 count.

Trick tags back in to take over on Axiom, stomping him. Trick beats Axiom down in the corner and stomps away now. Hayes tags in and works Axiom over now, grounding him. More back and forth now. Crews tags in and knocks Trick off the apron, then goes to work on Hayes. Crews drops Hayes and kips-up for a pop. Crews goes on and splashes Hayes in the corner, then nails a dropkick.

Crews presses Hayes to the mat, then nails the standing moonsault for a close 2 count as Trick breaks it up. Axiom decks Tick and sends him tot he floor, then hits the dropkick from the apron. Hayes comes off the top but Crews blocks it, and spikes him into the mat and holds him there for the pin to win.

Winners: Apollo Crews and Axiom

– After the match, Crews and Axiom celebrate as the music hits.

– We see Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo walking on a bridge. Stacks asks why they’re there, and Tony says for business. Tony says this bridge represents beginnings and in some cases, the end. He tosses a chain and pendant into the river. Tony says Stacks did a lot of growing up this year, he proved to be a solid earner, and he took a bullet for Tony over and over, without thinking twice. Tony says the Dijak situation didn’t end how he wanted it. Stacks apologizes and says he’s sorry about that, Tony knows he would do anything for him. Stacks says if this is it, he’s going to be loyal to the very end. Stacks turns and faces the water. Tony goes behind him but hesitates, then tells Stacks his days of being a soldier are over… it’s time to become the Underboss. Stacks can’t believe it. Tony presents Stacks with a shirt that has The Family’s crest on it. He says Stacks now gets to wear the crest, perhaps as a tattoo. Stacks is shocked and grateful. Stacks and Tony embrace, and Tony kisses Stacks on the cheek. Tony is proud of Stacks. They walk off together.

– We see how Toxic Attraction won last week’s Battle Royal main event. They are seen walking backstage now. Back to commercial.

– Back from the break and McKenzie Mitchell is with Tiffany Stratton backstage. McKenzie asks about last week’s return and Stratton cuts her off, saying she didn’t ask for this interview, McKenzie did, so get to it. McKenzie shows us footage from last night, showing Tiffany trying to get into a door that has her name on it. Indi Hartwell opens the door and she isn’t happy with how Stratton called them all pigs last week. Indi places a “Women’s Locker Room” sign on the door, removing Tiffany’s sign, and tells her to go get dressed somewhere else. Tiffany tells McKenzie that the footage is disturbing and alarming. She knocks how Indi was dressed, and says Indi and the others can fit their wardrobes in a trash bag. Stratton says she will just have to show them that there’s only one Superstar in the division and that’s her. Toodles, she walks off.

– We go back to the ring and out comes Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne of Toxic Attraction.

They “told ya so!” when it comes to winning last week’s Battle Royal to become the new #1 contenders to NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. They go on about how they fooled everyone, making them think they were trying to eliminate each other. There is no animosity or jealousy, no elephant in the room, just Toxic Attraction doing what they need to do, and the Toxic Attraction revenge tour is moving forward, straight into Vengeance Day. They promise Perez will regret the day she became champion.

The music hits and out comes Lyra Valkyria to interrupt. She’s tired of hearing them. Valkyria says she would’ve won the Battle Royal if it weren’t for Cora Jade, but that’s OK because she will get her chance. Lyra doesn’t see a champion in Dolin or Jayne. Lyra enters the ring and the back & forth continues until a fight breaks out. The music interrupts and out comes Perez to make the save, forcing Toxic Attraction to retreat. Perez and Valkyria look on.

– We go to The Diamond Mine Dojo now. Brutus Creed and Julius Creed are arguing over who gets to face Jinder Mahal, and Brutus wants his shot. Julius says he’s not done with Jinder. Ivy Nile interrupts and says here we go again. She wants to know what happened to the disciplined Creed Brothers. She says they were once champions but now they’re falling apart by going for nothing but revenge. She knew Jinder was going to beat Julius. Ivy tells them to grow a set and get back to being The Creed Brothers instead of focusing on petty rivalries.

Alba Fyre vs. Sol Ruca

We go back to the ring and out comes Alba Fyre with her baseball bat. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and we get a new vignette from Stevie Turner. She gives her thoughts on highlights from last week’s Battle Royal. She says stay tuned for her arrival and updates on her life. We go back to the ring and out comes Sol Ruca as Fyre looks on.

The bell rings and they lock up, going back and forth. They tangle some more and Ruca hits a crossbody for a two count. Ruca with a back-slide for 2. Fyre is a bit fired up now as she faces off with Ruca and they shake hands. They go at it again and Ruca kicks Fyre away.

Ruca counters again and drops Fyre face-first into the mat. Fyre kicks out just in time. Fyre gets a bit aggressive to turn it around, then slams Ruca into the mat. Fyre with a kick and a knee strike while Ruca is on her knees. Fyre with another big strike. Fyre goes to the corner but Ruca scoops her for a slam. Fyre slides out and nails a superkick. Fyre unloads on Ruca in the corner now.

We see Isla Dawn watching the match from the platform above the crowd. Fyre is distracted but she turns back around to approach Ruca in the corner. Ruca nails the Sol Crusher from the corner for the pin to win.

Winner: Sol Ruca

– After the match, Ruca stands tall as the music hits. We go to replays. Ruca stands tall as a frustrated Fyre recovers. Dawn taunts Fyre from up above the crowd now.

– Still to come, Vic talks to Grayson Waller and Bron Breakker. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Dijak says that Tony and his goon found out the hard way what street justice is.  Wes Lee is next.  He did not come to NXT to make friends.  He came to NXT to collect punitive damages.  He will get championship gold from Wes.  He would make a plea bargain but Wes is too stupid to accept it.  You will not come out of Charlotte with the title.  High Justice is coming.  It won’t be Vengeance Day for you, it will be Judgment Day.

– We go to Vic’s interview with Grayson Waller earlier in the day. Vic asks what has been going through Grayson’s mind over the last seven days. Waller says he was supposed to save NXT last week.  He couldn’t beat Grayson Waller.  He was everything he thought Bron would be.  He says Bron was as stupid as he thought.  He knew what Bron was going to do.  Grayson says he is not champion not because of Bron, but the thing he could not control. 

Vic talks about the rope falling off.  Grayson says if the 20 idiots did their job, he would be champion.  Since they didn’t do their job, he isn’t champion. Vic asks about the jumping knee and he says he thought Waller was going to win.  Waller gives credit to Bron for kicking out.  He was ready to hit the elbow drop off the ropes but the next thing he knows, he hears the referee counting four and five.  Bron was half dead in the ring.  Waller says he is as much a champion as Bron is. Waller shows an NXT title belt.

Vic brings up Vengeance Day. Waller says most people would not want to be in a steel cage with Bron Breakker but he is not most people.  He says he will pin Bron Breakker.  This is the most important event in NXT history.  Who better to drive the car with NXT on the road than Grayson Waller.  Waller says no one who ever wrestled in Charlotte can hold a candle to him.  He will become the NXT Champion.

– Mark Coffey and Wolfgang walk in the back. Wolfgang says they will beat Brooks and Josh and then they will beat every other team. Josh Briggs says there won’t be any free wins and it won’t happen tonight.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and Alba Fyre is threatening a referee and Katana and Kayden try to calm her down. Alba says she can’t win a title or beat rookies. Kayden tells Alba to look at them and they are the longest reigning tag champions. Alba says being a tag champ sounds good to her. Kayden wants to know why she is coming after them when they helped her. Alba says she doesn’t need a partner.

– We take a look at Tyler Bate. He says he felt it was time for some much needed time and relaxation.  He has some things to settle and he is going to be staying in NXT.

Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen vs. Mark Coffey and Wolfgang

They brawl before the bell rings and Josh and Mark go to the floor while Wolfgang punches Brooks.  Mark tags in and connects with a clothesline.  Mark with a knee to the back and a punch.  Brooks with punches and Josh tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle.  They hit a double slam and Josh gets a near fall.  Brooks tags in and Wolfgang with a knee to the back and Mark with a shoulder to Brooks.  Wolfgang tags in and connects with an elbow drop.  Wolfgang with a cobra clutch and Mark tags in.  Wolfgang with a shoulder and Mark with a forearm.  Mark with a knee to Brooks.  Brooks with punches.  Mark with a forearm.  Josh tags in and he punches Wolfgang.

Josh with an Irish whip and clothesline in the corner.  Josh with a kick to Wolfgang.  Mark trips Josh and hits a back drop driver onto the apron.  Brooks is knocked off the apron and Mark punches Josh.  They pull up the ringside mats.  Brooks and Josh with punches to Mark and Wolfgang.  Mark goes for a suplex on the floor but Josh blocks it.  Josh with a suplex on the mats.  Wolfgang checks on Mark on the floor while Josh waits for someone to get back in the ring.  Brooks gets in the ring and they hit baseball slides and then punch Wolfgang and Mark.  Mark with a waist lock on Mark and Mark with a clothesline and kick to Josh.  Wolfgang tags in and Wolfgang kicks Josh to get a near fall.  Mark tags in and connects with knees and forearms.  They exchange punches and Mark with a front face lock.  Mark with a forearm and he gets a near fall.  Mark with a front face lock.  Josh gets to his feet and he lifts Mark up to get to his corner.  Josh with a back body drop and Brooks tags in.  Brooks with elbows and a spinning heel kick to Mark.  Brooks cannot get Mark up for a suplex because of his back.  Mark with an Irish whip and knee.

Wolfgang tags in and hits an elbow drop off the turnbuckles for a near fall.  Wolfgang with a reverse chin lock.  Wolfgang sends Brooks shoulder first into the ring post and Mark tags in.  Mark with a forearm.  Mark gets a near fall.  Brooks with punches and Mark with a knee.  Mark with a forearm to the lower back and he gets a near fall.  Mark with a front face lock.  Brooks tries to get to his corner but Mark kicks Josh’s hand away.  Mark misses an elbow in the corner and Josh tags in.

Josh with punches to Mark and Wolfgang.  Wolfgang is sent to the floor and Mark is sent to the apron and Josh punches Mark to the floor.  Josh with a shoulder tackle off the apron to Mark.  Brooks punches Wolfgang and Wolfgang with a punch and Mark back drops Brooks onto the exposed floor.  Josh punches Wolfgang and sends Mark into the ring.  Josh with a clothesline off the turnbuckles.  Josh with a side slam and splash.  Josh sees Brooks down on the floor and Fallon signals for help.

Mark with an inside cradle for a near fall.  Both men with clotheslines and both men are down.

Kiana James comes out to check on Brooks and Fallon yells at Kiana.  Brooks wants help to get up.

Josh and Mark exchange forearms in the ring.  Josh punches Wolfgang but Mark with an enzuigiri and Wolfgang with a power slam for the three count.

Winners:  Mark Coffey and Wolfgang

After the match, Kiana goes to the back with Brooks.

– We see Thea getting ready for her match and Thea says she is ready to throw up. Andre says his phone has been blowing up. Andre shows a video of Duke talking about Andre. Andre says if Duke has something to say, say it to his face. Duke turns the situation to Thea’s match.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and Brooks is in the medical room and Fallon Henley wants to know why the hell was she out there. Brooks says she has a name and she came out to check on her. Fallon says Kiana is using her. Brooks wants to know what is she using him for?  He says Fallon got her bar back and they like each other. Fallon says when Kiana dumps Brooks, she won’t be there for him.

Thea Hail vs. Valentina Feroz

They lock up and Feroz with a side head lock and take down.  Thea with a wrist lock and Feroz with a reversal and take down.  Hail with a reversal.  Feroz kicks Thea in the leg to escape.  Feroz with a leg sweep for a near fall.  Hail with a leg sweep for a near fall.  Hail with an arm drag.  Feroz with an arm drag and drop kick for a near fall.  Feroz with a reverse chin lock.

Elektra Lopez makes her way to ringside.  Hail goes for a crucifix but Feroz blocks it.  Hail goes for a sunset flip but Feroz drops down.  Hail with a kick and moonsault for a near fall.  Hail gets another near fall.  Hail with another near fall.  Feroz with a knee to the midsection and a kick to the head.  Both women go for a cross body at the same time and both go down.  Lopez puts brass knuckles on Feroz’ hand but she takes them off and tosses them to the referee.  Feroz with a front face lock but Hail with a face lock driver for the three count.

Winner:  Thea Hail

After the match, Duke and Andre stare each other down to ruin Thea’s celebration.

– Carmelo and Trick walk into the most dangerous parking lot in sports entertainment. Crews confronts them and tells him that those visions didn’t work out for him. Hayes says you are bragging about a tag team victory and they say it was a cheap victory. Crews says it calls for a celebration.  He says he needs a fresh cut first and he asks if they know a good barber.

– Vic Joseph announces the passing of Jay Briscoe.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and Elektra checks on Valentina and asks why didn’t she use the brass knuckles.  She tells Elektra that you don’t fight for respect, you fight to win. Valentina says Elektra is like Sanga. Elektra says she has had men betray her and she tells Valentina to watch her match against Wendy next week.

– Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods make their way to the ring. Kofi says they look so good because it is a special occasion.  They are done with Pretty Deadly.  Xavier says if they aren’t going up against Pretty Deadly, then who are they facing? Kofi says they will face the team that won the gauntlet match last week, Gallus.

Pretty Deadly make their way to the ring and Elton tells them to stop this travesty.  You are embarrassing yourselves talking about nonsence.  Kit says the New Day are mocking them and it isn’t funny. Woods says it is hilarious.  Kofi points out that Pretty Deadly lost last week.  Woods says if they would have done everything on the list, they would have their match. Elton says they have been jumping through hoops for a month and it isn’t funny.  Kit says they are done with this and they are the number one contenders.  Everyone knows it.

Gallus, who might not know it, make their way to the ring.

Mark asks Wolfgang if he heard what he did about being the number one contenders.  Wolfgang says they don’t deserve a title match after what happens last week. Kit says last week was a gross miscarriage of justice.

Mark says everyone’s chances of becoming tag champions is done.  It is because they are back on top.  Wolfgang says no one expected them back last week.  After beating Pretty Deadly and Brooks and Jensen, the New Day are next. Mark says you want to talk about the records you hold.  We are about turning up and ruining everyone’s good time. Woods says they couldn’t understand either of them but it looks like you want to fight.  They are ready when you are.

Kit and Elton attack Gallus and the New Day.  The New Day take care of Elton while Gallus takes care of Kit. New Day and Gallus fight in the ring while officials try to break things up.

– Roxanne and Lyra are with McKenzie to ask about how will they gel as a team. Roxanne says they have a common opponent.  She says she knows what it means to be the new girl.  She won’t let them get after Lyra.  Lyra says Roxanne was with her and she will be on her side tonight.

Javier Bernal shows up and asks if McKenzie wants to her a song before her match. McKenzie points out that she is doing an interview. Javier wants to know if Roxanne or Lyra want to hear a song and they tell him to leave.

We go to commercial.

– We are back with a look at Vic Joseph’s interview with Bron Breakker from this afternoon. Vic asks Bron what has been going through his mind since last week. Bron says he wanted to get this bad taste out of his mouth.  He wanted a definitive winner and he wanted to show that he was the better man.  Vic brings up the ropes breaking twice and the look on Bron’s face at the end of the match. 

Vic asks if Bron thought it was over after that knee. Bron says a lot of people probably thought that.  He was ready for the spear and he didn’t see the knee coming.  It took everything to kick out of the cover.  Bron says ‘what if’ Bron hits the elbow.  He says he cannot answer that.  All doubt will be answered at Vengeance Day.

Vic asks Bron about the steel cage match. Bron says it sounds good and he couldn’t be more excited.  It is the icing on the cake for this scenario.  There is nowhere to run or hide.  Everything runs through Vengeance Day.  Bron says he is not climbing over the top to win and he will pin him in the ring.

Vic mentions Waller’s ‘belt’. Bron says Waller is the Chael Sonnen of NXT because he runs his mouth and gets his ass kicked.  Waller would be the worst champion because he is all about himself.  Waller won’t be talking trash as he sends Waller all over the cage.  He will leave Charlotte as the NXT Champion. 

– Javier Bernal is in the ring with his guitar. He says to celebrate his album hitting the top 40, he will play a concert for the people of Orlando. Tyler Bate comes out.

Tyler Bate vs. Javier Bernal

Tyler offers his hand and then pulls it away.  Bate backs Bernal into the corner.  Bate with a leap frog and he goes through the legs.  Bate with a rollup for a near fall.  Bate with a side head lock.  Bernal with a reversal.  Bate with arm drags into a wrist lock.  Bernal gets into the ropes and he pokes Bate in the eyes and connects with a forearm to the back.  Bernal with a bulldog and clothesline for a near fall.  Bernal with punches.  Bate with European uppercuts.  Bernal with an Irish whip but Bate with a hip toss. 

Bate with a back elbow and European uppercuts.  Bernal with an Irsih whip and Bate with a knee lift.  Bate with an uppercut out of the corner.  Bate with an exploder and a shooting star press.  Bate sets for the Tyler Driver 97 but Bernal escapes.  Bate with Bop and Bang followed by another one after ducking a punch from Bernal.  Bate with a rebound clothesline and he goes for the Tyler Driver but Bernal blocks it.  Bate with a Tyler Driver for the three count.

Winner:  Tyler Bate

We go to commercial.

– We are back and we see Chase University celebrating with Thea.

– We see Josh and Brooks watching them go past.  Fallon shows up and says that she understands how Brooks feels about Kiana so she asked for a tag match with Kiana.

– We are told that the NXT Men’s Tag Title Match will be a Triple Threat Match with Gallus and Pretty Deadly facing The New Day.

– Next week, Katana and Kayden will face Alba Fyre for the Women’s Tag Titles.  Tiffany Stratton will face Indi Hartwell.  There will be an Award Ceremony for Thea Hail next week.

Lyra Valkyria and Roxanne Perez vs. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne

Jacy and Roxanne start things off and Roxanne with punches.  Lyra and Gigi get in and they exchange punches.  Gigi and Jacy go to the floor and Roxanne with a suicide dive to Jacy and then Gigi gets in Roxanne’s face on the floor and Lyra with a drop kick through the ropes.  Roxanne sends Jacy back into the ring and gets a near fall.  Lyra tags in and she connects with knees and an uppercut.  Lyra with a side head lock.  Roxanne tags in and Lyra holds Jacy and Roxanne with a victory roll into a drop kick for a near fall.  Roxanne with a La Magistral for a near fall.  Roxanne with a front face lock.  Lyra tags in and hits a double stomp to the arm.

Lyra with a wrist lock and Jacy with a knee.  Gigi tags in and Lyra with a hip toss for a near fall.  Lyra with a cravate and Roxanne tags in and she connects with a back elbow for a near fall.  Roxanne with a waist lock and Jacy with a tag while Roxanne gets an O’Connor Roll.  Jacy with punches to Roxanne.  Jacy with forearms to the back and an Irish whip.  Jacy with a running hip into the corner.  Gigi tags in and she hits a bronco buster.  Jacy with a cannonball.  Gigi with a jackknife cover for a near fall.  Gigi with Kawada kicks to Roxanne.  Jacy tags in and Gigi with a diving head butt.  Jacy with a back senton for a near fall.  Gigi tags in and she kicks Roxanne.  Jacy with a clothesline and Gigi gets a near fall.  Jacy tags in and Gigi kicks Roxanne in the leg.  Jacy knocks Lyra off the apron with a forearm.  Jacy goes for a suplex but Roxanne lands on her feet.  Jacy with a back elbow.  Both women with flying hair take downs.  Gigi and Lyra tags in and Lyra with a clothesline or two.

Lyra with a back heel kick and more kicks to Gigi.  Lyra with an enzuigiri to Jacy.  Lyra with an exploder to Gigi and she goes up top.  Cora Jade pushes Lyra off the turnbuckles when the referee was not looking.  Jacy tags in and Lyra kicks Jacy.  Roxanne tags in and she hits a Thesz Press and follows with punches.  Lyra with a cross body off the apron to Cora.  Roxanne with an uppercut in the corner while Lyra and Cora fight to the back.  Gigi with a bicycle kick when Roxanne goes for a side Russian leg sweep on Roxanne.  Jacy accidentally kicks Gigi when Roxanne moves.  Roxanne with a side Russian leg sweep to Jacy followed by a back heel kick to Gigi and Pop Rocks to Gigi for the three count.

Winners:  Lyra Valkyria and Roxanne Perez

We go to credits with Gigi and Jacy arguing in the ring while Roxanne celebrates.
