John Cena’s WWE Return Match Revealed – During tonight’s WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns suggested to team up with Sami Zayn to go against Kevin Owens and a partner of his choosing on the December 30 episode.
Ahead of the main event segment, there were a couple of backstage skits with The Bloodline. Jey Uso told Roman Reigns that he was fine with Sami Zayn officially becoming an Uso and an official member of The Bloodline. However, Reigns did not tip his hand on what he was going to do and the door was open for something really good or really bad to happen to Zayn.
The closing segment of tonight’s show saw Reigns and The Bloodline in the ring for a promo. Reigns started out by slapping hands with everyone in The Bloodline. He said that tonight was going to be a good night for Sami but “we got a problem, we got a KO problem” because he keeps stalking and dragging Sami down. Reigns said that on December 30, he and Sami will smash KO and his tag team partner.
John Cena suddenly appeared on the big screen and he did a long promo about how he accepted KO’s invitation to team up with him on December 30. He noted how Owens sent him a text message to point out how he’s wrestled every year for the past 20 years, but not this year. Cena then revealed that he has accepted Owens’ offer to team up against Reigns and Zayn.
Cena has not wrestled since teaming with The Mysterios for a dark match win over Reigns and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos at the September 10, 2021 SmackDown, which came just weeks after Cena’s SummerSlam 2021 loss to Reigns.
