Reason Why Bandido Signed With AEW Over WWE – Bandido received a lot of interest from AEW and WWE following his match against ROH World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite.
The former ROH star was considering both offers before ultimately signing with AEW.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the deal is for three years and has a maximum number of dates on it, although that number is unknown, but it’s said to be more matches than most AEW stars work in a year.
Meltzer wrote, “In the end, he realized he couldn’t sign with WWE because he’s got a child in Mexico and his significant other doesn’t want to move from Mexico and he doesn’t want to not see his child all the time.”
If he signed with WWE and they wanted him to start in NXT, he would have to move to Florida. If he got to the main roster, he would be on the road more than in AEW.
Bandido is slated to make his AEW return to face Rush during AEW Rampage tonight as part of the World Title Eliminator Tournament, with the winner receiving a world title match at AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming. The winner of that bout will face Page, who defeated Eddie Kingston on AEW Dynamite this past Wednesday. The finals are slated for Full Gear, with the eventual title match happening on December 14th.
