WWE Has Interest In JONAH And More Free Agents

JONAH, formerly known as Bronson Reed, may be being eyed up for a return to the company at some point in the near future.

JONAH joined IMPACT wrestling on November 20, 2021, and announced his departure from the company on May 6, 2022.

JONAH also made several appearances for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, including as a participant in the G1 Climax 32. JONAH scored an upset victory over former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. Yesterday (October 10), Okada defeated JONAH in a rematch at NJPW Declaration of Power.

According to Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio:

“When (Okada vs JONAH) was over, they did a handshake, and I don’t know… they didn’t talk ‘finale’ and they didn’t say he was leaving, but kind of the way that handshake… WWE’s gone after JONAH (Bronson Reed) and they want him.

“And even though JONAH was getting a great push here, this was actually the first pinfall loss he’s taken in New Japan. The handshake was kind of weird, it was almost like you think maybe he’s going back (to WWE). But I don’t know if that’s the case or not.”

Meltzer also revealed that WWE is interested in bringing back Mia Yim and Matt Taven:

“Mia Yim, obviously her husband is in AEW, Keith Lee. Paul Levesque (Triple H) is trying to get everybody back that he had before (in NXT) that got fired when he didn’t have power, and she would fit into that category. I know WWE has interest in (Matt) Taven.

“Vincent was backstage at the show (Raw) tonight with Dutch, so obviously there’s some interest at some level in those two as a tag team in WWE or maybe for NXT or whatever.”

The now free agent Mia Yim was released by WWE on November 4, 2021, before appearing at IMPACT’s Under Siege event on May 7, 2022. Her last appearance with the company was at Bound For Glory 2022 on October 7, where she was defeated by Mickie James.

Matt Taven is a former Ring of Honor World Champion, and has held tag team titles in both IMPACT and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Vincent and Dutch appeared in Ring of Honor as tag team The Righteous, where they held the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championship with Bateman.
