Daniel Cormier Will Serve As Guest Referee In Fight Pit Match At Extreme Rules

Daniel Cormier As Guest Referee WWE Extreme Rules – As first announced by Ariel Helwani on Twitter, UFC legend Daniel Cormier will serve as the guest referee in the Fight Pit match between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins. The match will happen next Saturday at Extreme Rules in Philadelphia.

Helwani wrote:

Breaking: Daniel Cormier will serve as guest referee for next Saturday’s Fight Pit Match between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins at WWE’s Extreme Rules in Philly. Oct. 8. No, seriously. It’s really happening. Oct. 8. Incredible.

Before the match happens, Rollins and Riddle will face off this Monday Night on Raw and there is a No Contact clause in place that says the match is off if they lay hands on each other.

Cormier is a long-time WWE fan and there have been rumors in recent years about him wrestling for the company or getting a role on the commentary team. Extreme Rules will be the first time he’s been advertised as part of a match so this could lead to something else for down the line.

Cormier is a UFC Hall Of Famer. He’s a former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion and is considered to be one of the greatest MMA fighters of all-time.

Cormier showed interest in the WWE back in 2020, but nothing came from the situation, and the former Heavyweight Champion has remained in the UFC ever since, working as a commentator for the company.

In a recent interview this past summer, Cormier said he’s been contacted by WWE to appear on a WWE show with a friend of his.

“I actually talked to them quite a bit. I’m friends with a lot of people that are in that company. I speak to Triple H, and I’ve got some friends now that are competing [in WWE]. So my brother, not my actual brother, one of my friends, Jacob Kasper, is now a Creed Brother in the WWE. I’ve been asked a couple of times to do stuff with them for the promotion, but I haven’t been able to make it work. It’s something that I really do want to do.”
