There was an awkward finish to a match on Saturday night at the live event in Sacramento, California.
At the show, SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan wrestled Natalya and Ronda Rousey in a Triple Threat Match. Morgan won the match after hitting Natalya with the Oblivion finisher.
Immediately after the pin, it appeared that Natalya immediately got up and said something to Morgan and then she left the ring, basically no selling the finish. You can see the finish below.
Several hours later Natalya tweeted about the incident but then quickly deleted it. She tweeted, “’m breaking character right now, but I actually said THANKYOU. If you must know.”
During the latest Wrestling Observer Radio show, Dave Meltzer said that there was a legit issue during the match but it had nothing to do with Morgan, even though it looked like Natalya was pointing right at Morgan after the match.
“There was an issue,” Meltzer said. “It had nothing to do with Liv Morgan, at all…Whatever it was, I don’t know exactly what the situation was. I know there was a situation. I know that it was cleared up immediately that night and it’s over and done with and it did happen. She was mad but it had nothing to do with Morgan or any heat with her and Morgan. I would think that if you watch the clip, that was the conclusion that you would come to but it wasn’t that. So that was the situation in Sacramento…I did see the clip and it was a little unusual. She did just get up and leave. It’s something that you wouldn’t expect. It happened.”
If this is just something to get people talking, then it’s working. Natalya has been able to generate some extra social media buzz in recent weeks with her tweets about Ronda Rousey so it’s possible that this is something else being done to get people talking but it certainly looks like something was off at the end of the match in Sacramento.
