Theory had a memorable Saturday night at the WWE Money in the Bank event as he worked two matches.
First, he lost the United States Title to Bobby Lashley. However, just before the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match was about to begin, he was added to the match by on-screen WWE authority figure Adam Pearce.
The reason for that is due to a spot not being filled by a seventh star, as the Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel match from last week’s Raw didn’t take place due to Owens missing the show. The winner of that bout was supposed to be added to the MITB ladder match.
Theory won the match and was awarded the MITB briefcase, which gives him the right to cash in the contract anytime within the next year for a shot at Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Title.
Ringside News reports that although Theory was a last-minute replacement in the storyline, he was always scheduled to be in the match as the plan was for him to drop the United States Title before winning the Money in the Bank briefcase to close out the show.
