Adam Cole reportedly suffered a concussion during the four-way IWGP World Heavyweight Title match at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event.
The match had an odd finish because Cole was injured as he took the pinfall loss to champion Jay White in the bout that also included Hangman Page and Kazuchika Okada. Okada went for the rainmaker on Cole, who ducked and collapsed. White hit the bladerunner to Okada before pinning Cole.
As previously reported, Cole is dealing with a “very serious” concussion. With concussions, there is no set timeframe for someone to return from this injury as they can be cleared anytime.
During today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said, “Adam Cole’s gonna be out for a while.”
Before Forbidden Door, Cole had been on the sidelines while healing up another injury as he hadn’t wrestled since the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament final at Double or Nothing in late May, where he beat Samoa Joe.
Cole joins a long list of AEW talent dealing with injuries, including CM Punk and Bryan Danielson.
