The Very Latest On MJF – AEW Situation – As noted earlier, MJF arrived at the venue for Sunday’s Double Or Nothing at what was described as “the last minute” and left the venue right after his match. This is something that has since been verified by PWInsider, but it is not clear whether or not that decision was approved by anybody at AEW.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, MJF told them that he has a lot to think about, and right now his future is unknown in regards to what decision he will make. But, it has been reported that AEW is going to take him off the road for at least the next couple of TV tapings, yet that could end up being a longer run of absence.
MJF is still with the company but do not expect to see him for a while. As many of you saw last night, MJF took several powerbombs from Wardlow before getting pinned. It was also made clear that he was being written off for the time being because he was taken out of the ring on a stretcher.
Last night at the media scrum, Tony Khan said that he would not be commenting on the MJF situation. While there are certain aspects to this story that are legitimate, there are also signs that MJF is doing things that are inspired by Brian Pillman so who knows what is next when he returns.
There had also been reports that MJF booked a flight out of Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez talked about how there is evidence that MJF never even booked a flight out of Las Vegas during today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.
“The people that reported a flight was booked, they believed a flight was booked and they weren’t making up a story. They had seen evidence that a flight had been booked.”
Meltzer chimed in by noting that the flight they saw was real and the flight did have a delay.
Alvarez continued, “However, without giving away too much information, we did have someone who was able to see what flights…basically, there was no record in the system of Maxwell Friedman being booked for this flight. There were the records of the flight he was going to take after the pay-per-view, but there were no records of the flight scheduled for yesterday [Saturday]. It’s possible maybe they missed.”
Meltzer pointed out that if MJF actually booked the flight then there would be a record of him canceling it.
