Original Plans For Sasha Banks Prior To Walking Out Of RAW

WWE Had Plans For Sasha Banks To Wrestle Ronda Rousey

Original Plans For Sasha Banks Prior To Walking Out Of RAW – There are a lot more details coming out on the Sasha Banks – Naomi situation. As noted last night, Naomi was originally scheduled to win the 6-Pack Challenge on Raw but Banks and Naomi walked out of the building at the start of the show.

PWInsider reports that the plan was for Banks and Naomi to be featured in two or three segments to build on the idea that they would have to face off against each other in the 6-Pack Challenge and Raw would have ended with Naomi and Banks celebrating that Naomi would be facing Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

The plan was for Naomi to lose to Belair at the pay-per-view and some are of the belief that an angle was going to be shot at SmackDown to set up an angle between Banks and Ronda Rousey and Banks would have lost to Rousey at the Hell in a Cell show. Basically, the Women’s Tag Team Champions would have been used to put over the singles champions from Raw and SmackDown.

PWInsider adds, “We are told that at some point during the day, likely after the initial concerns about creative were raised, there was an alternative idea that would have been Banks and Naomi have a short tag team match instead and be beat down after to set up a different program. One source cited their opponents would have been Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop but we have not 100% confirmed that to be the case.”

Just before Raw went on the air, WWE Producer Molly Holly let Banks and Naomi know that they were going ahead with the 6-Pack Challenge with Naomi winning. It was shortly after that when Banks and Naomi told John Laurinaitis that they were leaving. As stated in WWE’s press release, they left the belts on Laurinaitis’ desk.

Vince McMahon was reportedly told about them leaving just as Raw was going on the air and the Becky Lynch-Adam Pearce segment was pitched “on the spot” with one source crediting Lynch for her quick thinking. McMahon then ordered to have their segment shot later on to explain why the 6-Pack Challenge was changed.

The report noted that the issue wasn’t about Banks losing but more about how Banks and Naomi would have been portrayed over the next few weeks, especially because they put so much time into building their team only to be booked to put over the singles champions on upcoming shows. What seemed to be in WWE’s plans was to downplay the Women’s Tag Team Titles in the coming weeks.

Some will say that Naomi and Banks should have just done what was scripted because they are characters on a TV show. Others would say that they stood up for what they believed, similar to what Stone Cold Steve Austin and others have done in the past.

Last night’s statement that was sent out made it clear that Vince McMahon is not happy about what went down. During the show, Corey Graves (likely Vince McMahon in his ear) stated that the duo acted unprofessionally by walking out.

Things like this have happened in the past and they usually get smoothed over. Right now this is all a shoot but if things get smoothed over, don’t be shocked if this turns into a storyline at some point.
